Description/Taste
Fireside Fall Mix™ is a collection of distinct flowers in varying sizes, shapes, and colors. The blooms range from small, overlapping, and compact to large, with frilly, open, radial, and circular shapes. Each flower consists of thin, delicate petals that appear in narrow, round, broad, curved, crinkled, and elongated shapes. The petals have a soft, velvety texture and appear in brilliant shades of orange, red, blush, and gold. Some of the blooms may also feature two colors on the petals or have prominent veining across the petals’ surface. Fireside Fall Mix™ has a crisp, succulent, tender texture and a faint scent. A few blooms may also be slightly chewier than others, creating textural complexity. The flowers are mild and showcase a range of flavors, from faintly sweet and green to tangy, savory, herbal, peppery, lightly citrusy, and floral. It is important to note that the flowers in the Fireside Fall Mix™ will vary, as only the freshest, in-season blooms are selected.
Seasons/Availability
Fireside Fall Mix™ is available seasonally through Fresh Origins®, from September 1st to November 30th.

Each mix varies in its selection of blooms, and the flowers can be individually placed on drinks and dishes for a singular impact, or grouped to create a grander visual effect. Fireside Fall Mix™ is sought by chefs and home cooks to enhance seasonality on their creations and is used fresh on a wide array of sweet and savory dishes.
Nutritional Value
Fireside Fall Mix™ has not been studied for its vitamin and mineral content, as the flowers are not consumed for nutritional purposes. Edible flowers, in general, are a source of fiber to aid digestion and contain vitamins A, C, and E, which maintain healthy organs, strengthen the immune system, and protect the cells against free radical damage. Flowers also provide varying amounts of minerals, including calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, and potassium. These minerals help the body balance fluid levels, control daily nerve functions, and support bone and tooth development. The pigmented yellow, orange, and red hues in the mix may also indicate the presence of carotenoids and anthocyanins. Both are natural substances with antioxidant properties that help reduce inflammation and support overall bodily health.
Applications
Fireside Fall Mix™ is a vibrant, autumnal color palette to mirror the changing flavors of the season. The transition from summer to fall marks a time when dishes become warmer, heartier, and more savory, and the golden yellow, orange, and red hues of the mix enhance the charming, cozy feel of fall. Fireside Fall Mix™ features blossoms with varying flavors and textures. The blooms are typically added just before serving and are a decorative, edible garnish for salads, hummus, and charcuterie boards. Try separating the petals from the blooms and gently pressing them into soft cheeses and butter. Fireside Fall Mix™ can also be added to savory curries and spice-filled biryanis or topped over various rich soups and stews. The color palette of the mix complements Middle Eastern and Asian rice dishes or evokes the warm glow of a sunset in tropical-inspired creations. It can also support grilled meat platters and enhance the visual nature of casseroles. Like most edible flowers, the mix is used as a decoration on cakes, tarts, and panna cotta, or the petals can be lightly simmered into syrups, jams, and various infusions. The blooms are sometimes brushed with egg whites and sugared to create a candied garnish. Beyond culinary dishes, Fireside Fall Mix™ can be used to adorn beverages, including cocktails, cider, sparkling mocktails, chocolate-based drinks, and tea. Fireside Fall Mix™ pairs well with fruits like citrus, melons, stone fruits, and pears, as well as spices like cumin, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The blooms will keep for several days when stored in the refrigerator in their original clamshell, but it is recommended to immediately use them for the freshest appearance.
Ethnic/Cultural Info
Fireside Fall Mix™ was mentioned in Fresh Origin’s® 2025 Fall Flavor Guide as a garnish that can elevate cocktails such as the carajillo. The guide noted that carajillo is increasingly appearing on menus, especially in the United States, and is also listed among the top 10 beverage trends to know for 2026 on Datassential, a food and beverage data platform focused on consumer insights. The carajillo is a strong beverage made from a blend of coffee and liquor. There are many variations of the drink, but one of the most well-known is made with espresso and the Spanish liqueur Licor 43, a blend of 43 botanical ingredients. The origins of carajillo are unknown and heavily debated. Two main theories have arisen among historians, but the true history has not been determined. The first theory connects the drink to Spanish soldiers residing in Cuba in the 19th century. The drink was created to give soldiers courage before they faced the indigenous populations in battle. The second theory points to Spain, where 19th-century Catalan carriers mixed coffee with liquor to boost energy. Regardless of its true origins, carajillo became a popular beverage in Spanish culture and spread worldwide, becoming famous in Mexico in the early 21st century. The beverage has recently gained notoriety in American markets, and Fireside Fall Mix™ adds color, whimsy, and drama to the darker-hued cocktail.
