The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced special examinations for eligible Class 12 students in selected West Asian countries. The exams are being arranged for subjects that could not be held during the earlier board examination due to the prevailing situation in the region.
The decision gives eligible students an opportunity to appear for the cancelled papers instead of relying only on the assessment system used to prepare their earlier results.
CBSE had cancelled Class 12 examinations in seven West Asian countries — Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. A total of 40 subjects, including 20 academic subjects, were affected.
CBSE introduced a special assessment mechanism on March 27, 2026, to calculate the results of students whose examinations could not be conducted.
For regular candidates in the affected West Asian countries, results were declared on May 13, 2026, along with the Class 12 results of students in India and other overseas locations. Results for eligible private candidates were also subsequently prepared through the assessment mechanism.
The Board had indicated that students who were not satisfied with the marks awarded through this system could be given an opportunity to take examinations in the subjects that had earlier been cancelled.
CBSE will conduct special examinations covering the 40 subjects that were cancelled earlier for eligible students from the affected countries.
