CBSE 12th Revaluation Update 2026: SC Rejects Request to Reopen Portal

CBSE Class 12 students have received an important update regarding the verification and revaluation of answer sheets. The Supreme Court has declined a plea seeking the reopening of the CBSE portal for students who were unable to submit their requests for answer-sheet verification and revaluation within the original deadline.

Students who were dissatisfied with their board examination marks had sought an additional opportunity to apply for verification and re-evaluation. However, the court noted that CBSE had already provided a specific time window for candidates to use these facilities.

Why Did Students Seek Reopening of the CBSE Revaluation Portal?

The matter was linked to CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system, under which physical answer sheets are first scanned and then evaluated digitally on computer screens.

Some students raised concerns about the evaluation process, including missing scanned pages, unclear or poor-quality scans, and answers allegedly being left out during assessment.

The petitioners also claimed that technical difficulties on the CBSE website prevented certain students from submitting their verification requests within the prescribed period.

Citing these concerns, the students approached the Supreme Court and requested that CBSE be directed to reopen the revaluation and verification portal for an additional week.

What Was the Supreme Court’s Decision?

The plea seeking the reopening of the CBSE Class 12 revaluation and verification portal was heard by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.

The bench also included Justice Joymalya Bagchi and Justice V. Mohana. During the hearing, the court observed that CBSE had already provided all eligible students with a fixed period to apply for verification and revaluation. Therefore, the bench did not find sufficient grounds to reopen the portal.

The court noted that when an opportunity is made available within a specified timeframe, candidates are expected to use it within that period. Failure to avail the facility during the prescribed window does not automatically create a right to another opportunity later.

Accordingly, the Supreme Court dismissed the plea seeking to reopen the CBSE Class 12 verification and revaluation portal.
