Update (9/26): Max & the Midknights season three will premiere Friday, October 9 at 12:38 p.m.!

'Max & the Midknights' season one key art

A faraway kingdom holds fantastical, heartfelt, and humorous journeys in Nickelodeon’s CG-animated series Max & the Midknights. Based on the best-selling children's books by acclaimed author and cartoonist Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate), the show follows an adventurous 10-year-old named Max who embarks on a quest with her newfound friends to save the Kingdom of Byjovia from ominous forces.

Throughout the show's freshman series, Max leads the rest of the Midknights on challenging quests filled with all-new original songs. After King Gastley steals the throne and forces an unjust rule on the Kingdom of Byjovia, Max must come to the rescue to overthrow the power-hungry foe. With her friends and Uncle Budrick by her side, Max’s courageous spirit won’t back down no matter how difficult the quest gets.

The series has been renewed through to season four, with the series totaling 40 episodes.

Monday, October 5, 2026 at 12:12 p.m. - So Slayeth the Prophecy: Max comes face-to-face with an imprisoned dragon and is forced to decide between slaying the dragon to fulfil the prophecy, or doing the right thing and freeing him, even if it means putting her dreams of becoming a knight on hold. (#201; season two premiere)

Monday, October 5, 2026 at 12:38 p.m. - Here Be Dragons: As Max is trapped in a haunting fever dream, the rest of the Midknights find themselves in the magical home of dragons, where they must race against the clock to find a way to save Max from the venom that is quickly taking hold. (#202)

Monday, October 5, 2026 at 1:04 p.m. - Thoroughly Malevolent Millie: Max is re-energized to find King Conrad and save Byjovia, but the Midknights' quest is interrupted by a strange boy trapped in a tower. Meanwhile, Millie deals with the repercussions of using dark magic. (#203)

Fens & Enemies: As Max and the Midknights struggle to complete their quest, Mumblin reappears with shocking news, revealing the truth about King Conrad's disappearance, and they soon learn that the threat to Byjovia is even closer than they thought! (#204)

Dark Knight of the Soul: As Max reels from failing her quest and losing Mumblin, she loses all hope, and it's down to Uncle Budrick to inspire her not to give up. Meanwhile, Millie grows closer to Fendra, and learns how she came to be an all-powerful sorceress. (#205)

Homeward Bound: With renewed hope, Max, Simon, and Uncle Budrick are ready to take back Byjovia! There's just one problem - Kevyn is missing! Meanwhile, Fendra traverses her old haunts looking for ingredients for her evil spell. (#206)

And Joust Like That...: Max, Simon, Kevyn, and Uncle Budrick infiltrate Byjovia in disguise - but their plan goes awry when they're swept into Fendra's tournament to find a true knight's courage. A tiny Alice and Nolan attempt to cross the throne room. (#207)

Before the Storm: Newly reunited, Max & the Midknights break into the castle to find King Conrad and encounter an unexpected obstacle. Meanwhile, Fendra finds her courage, as the tournament comes to a shocking close. (#208)

Battle for Byjovia: In a battle of good vs. evil, Max & the Midknights team up with some unexpected allies to take Fendra down once and for all. But their plans are thwarted when Fendra reveals a few tricks up her sleeve that put all of Byjovia in danger. (#209)

A True Knight's Courage: In a heart-pounding finale, Fendra completes her spell and reigns supreme over Byjovia. The Midknights struggle to regroup after Max takes a devastating blow. (#210; season two finale)

The voice cast behind the Midknights, a group of misfits each with their own unique talent, include: Blu del Barrio (Star Trek: Discovery) as Max, a brave and determined girl ready to take on any challenge headed her way; Melissa Villaseñor (Saturday Night Live) as Millie, a wacky yet super positive girl who brings the power of magic to the Midknights; Zeno Robinson (Transformers: EarthSpark) as Simon, Millie’s street-savvy and sometimes sarcastic companion; and Caleb Yen (Beyblade X) as Kevyn, the bookish genius with a photographic memory. Together, the group accomplishes nearly everything that they set their mind to achieve.

Alongside the Midknights, Jeremy Rowley (iCarly) lends his voice as Uncle Budrick, Max’s lovably silly parental figure and professional troubadour, Gary Anthony Williams (Central Park) voices Mumblin, a famous retired magician who helps guide the Midknights on their quests, Brian Stepanek (The Loud House) voices King Gastley, the nefarious ruler of Byjovia, willing to do whatever it takes to maintain his throne, and India de Beaufort (It’s Pony) voices Fendra, a dark sorceress working for King Gastley.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation in Burbank, Max & the Midknights (20 episodes across two 10-episode seasons) is executive produced by Lincoln Peirce (Big Nate) and Jane Startz (Ella Enchanted). Sharon Flynn (All Hail King Julien) and David Skelly (Toy Story 2) serve as co-executive producers and showrunners. Development and production is overseen by Claudia Spinelli, Senior Vice President, TV Series Animation, Nickelodeon, Nathan Schram, Vice President, Development, Nickelodeon Animation, and Stephanie Alpert, Vice President, Production, Nickelodeon Animation. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

The launch is part of a broader expansion of DIRECTV's genre-based offerings, including MySports, MyEntertainment, MyNews, and MiEspañol, resulting from DIRECTV's new licensing agreement with Paramount Global.

MyKids features a custom lineup of beloved family-friendly content, combining streaming giants and top-tier channels into one curated experience. The new MyKids offering includes:

  • Paramount's cradle-to-teen Nickelodeon suite: Nickelodeon, Nicktoons, Nick Jr., and TeenNick
  • Disney's comprehensive family portfolio: Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, and Disney+
  • Fan favorites from Warner Bros. Discovery networks: Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and Discovery Family
  • Popular independents: BabyFirst TV, LooLooKids TV, and MeTV Toons (Launching 6/30)
  • The MyCinema mini pack add-on will also be available to MyKids customers for $9.99/month.

"With MyKids, we're bringing together the most trusted networks and beloved characters from the biggest names in kids' entertainment, including full channel lineups from Disney and Nickelodeon, along with Disney+ —all in one place," said Vince Torres, chief marketing officer at DIRECTV. "And by introducing our most affordable package yet at $19.99 per month, we're making it easier for more families to access the content they care about most. It's about giving families more flexibility, more value, and the confidence that they're getting the very best for their kids."

The launch of MyKids is just one key component of the broader Paramount Global programming expansion. Beginning today, DIRECTV is also enhancing two of its most popular genre packs at no additional cost, MySports and MyEntertainment, with the addition of several Paramount Global networks and local CBS-owned-and-operated broadcast stations serving many of America's largest cities.

  • MySports – $69.99/month - MySports now includes 15 CBS-owned and operated stations (O&Os) and CBS Sports Network, further strengthening an already comprehensive lineup. The genre pack currently features more than 25 major sports channels, such as ESPN, ESPN2, ACC Network, FS1, Golf Channel, SEC Network, TBS, TNT, truTV, and USA Network, along with a variety of professional league and collegiate conference networks. In addition, ESPN+ is already included, and the new ESPN streaming service will be available upon its launch.
  • MyEntertainment – $34.99/month - MyEntertainment now offers a range of new Paramount Global channels: BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, MTV2, Paramount Network, POP, TV Land, and VH1. These additions complement an already diverse catalog of more than 40 entertainment networks, including A&E, Bravo, Discovery, E!, Food Network, FX, Freeform, FYI, HGTV, Lifetime, Oxygen, Syfy, The HISTORY Channel, TLC, Vice TV and others. The package also includes Disney+, Hulu Bundle Basic and Max Basic With Ads.

The expansion continues tomorrow with even more content rolling out across additional DIRECTV genre packs:

  • MyNews – $39.99/month - CBS O&Os will join the MyNews pack, enhancing local and national coverage. This addition complements a strong lineup of more than 10 national news channels already included — such as CNN, CNBC, FOX News Channel, and MSNBC — plus select local news stations where available.
  • MiEspañol – $34.99/month - Tr3s joins MiEspañol, further enriching an already impressive Spanish-language lineup. Subscribers currently enjoy more than 60 channels including CNN En Español, Discovery En Español, Discovery Familia, ESPN Deportes, FOX Deportes, Hogar de HGTV, Nat Geo Mundo, Telemundo, Univision and others, with plans to incorporate Vix Premium with Ads at no additional cost in the near future.
  • MyCinema Mini Pack - The Smithsonian Channel will be added to the MyCinema Mini Pack Add-On, which currently features classic films, romance, and family programming from seven channels, including Great American Family, SONY Movies, and Turner Classic Movies. MyCinema is available to MyKids, MyEntertainment, MyNews and MySports customers for $9.99/month.

These enhancements mark a significant step in DIRECTV's continued strategy to deliver genre-based content bundles that give customers greater choice, value, and a simplified, more personal TV experience. Genre Packs allow customers to choose their channel lineup based on which genre they watch the most. With five options across a variety of genres, consumers get the channels they want and the content they love without filler channel overload. Pricing for Genre Packs starts as low as $19.99 per month + tax. For more information or to subscribe, visit DIRECTV Genre Packs.

Altafiber Drops Nickelodeon, MTV, BET, Comedy Central and More Paramount Channels In Cincinnati

Dispute with Paramount Global removes channels from lineup

Altafiber 'Missing Channel' Screen
WCPO

Cincinnati-area Altafiber customers are finding blank channels on their TV screen this week, most notably Nickelodeon and Comedy Central, which are very popular with children and young adults.

It is all the result of the latest dispute over over carrying fees, as programmers ask for more and more money from cable companies.

But this time, it's not DirecTV or Dish customers caught in the middle of the dispute.

It is local viewers who use Cincinnati-based Altafiber, formerly known as Cincinnati Bell, for their TV package, who are now missing more than a dozen TV channels.

Whenever a Altafiber customer tunes into a Paramount-owned channel, such as Nickelodeon, MTV, VH-1, BET, and Comedy Central, they are now greeted with a message that the channel is longer available in the line-up, along with a QR code that they can check for more information.

Altafiber has sent an email to customers, and has posted an explanation on its website, saying: "Paramount Global was demanding rates that do not reflect the value their content delivers to you, the customer. Paramount has been shifting the majority of its new shows to the Paramount + app. At the same time, Paramount is increasing prices for cable customers. We believe this is unfair."

Paramount Global channels impacted by this dispute include: BET, MTV, Nick Jr., BET Soul, MTV Classic, Nicktoons, CMT, MTV Live, Paramount Network, CMT Music, MTV 2, TV Land, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, TeenNick, LOGO, Nick Music, and VH1.

So what can customers do?

If you rely on some of these channels, the simplest thing is to subscribe to Paramount Plus. or a service that still includes Paramount channels

Services like Pluto, YouTube TV, Hulu, and Sling offer Paramount and most other cable channels for costs ranging from $30 a moth (Philo) to as much as $80 a month.

If you decide to go with this option, you can then drop Atafiber's cable package, and just use their home internet.

A cheaper option is to simply subscribe to Paramount Plus as an add-on to your Altafiber package , which costs $8 a month for the basic plan.

Some customers claim that after they called, the company offered them a one-time $15 credit on their bill.

When reached out to for comment, a spokesman told WCPO 9 Cincinnati that at this time "there are no plans to bring these channels back."

Nickelodeon and Paramount Channels Affected By Global IT Outage

It appears that many of Paramount Global's channels were affected by the global technology outage on Friday, July 19, including Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and TeenNick in the U.S., causing many to display "Technical Difficulties" slides.

Nicktoons' Technical Difficulties Slide

The cause of the disruptions originated from a cybersecurity firm called CrowdStrike, which provides software to a wide range of industries. An update to one of CrowdStrike’s pieces of software, Falcon Sensor, malfunctioned, throwing a wrench into computers running Windows, leading to major tech failures around the world, the company said.

The outage started about 1:45am ET, with Nicktoons being down until about 4:45aam.

TeenNick (East Feed) started glitching about 1:19am ET during iCarly, and remained dark for about 20 minutes before returning, starting over where "iSell Penny Tees" glitched. The rest of the iCarly marathon was off schedule. Because of the 20-minute delay, all the remaining iCarly marathon was shifted down. After "iOMG" aired in full (ending about 5:57am, instead of the scheduled 5:36am), the last episode "iOwe You" only aired for its last 90 seconds (no intro or credits).

Nick Jr.'s Technical Difficulties Slide

Other Paramount channels affected by the outage included MTV Classic, VH1, VH1 Soul, MTV Jams, and Logo.

Meanwhile, in Australia, Channel 10's news service went offline, with "humble news social team admins" uploading a homemade error image on their official X/Twitter account:

Nickelodeon Rebrands Nicktoons and TeenNick

After teasing their new logos over the past few months, Nickelodeon today (Jan. 1, 2024) kick-started the New Year by rebranding its Nicktoons and TeenNick channels! The rebrand features the new Nicktoons and TeenNick logos unveiled last year, based on Nickelodeon's recently introduced Splat logo the network introduced early last year, and includes new on-air graphics, such as lower-thirds, updated BUG/DOG, bumpers, idents, promo endboards, and Curriculum Boards.

Nicktoons and TeenNick Splat Logos

Both channels use bumpers from Nickelodeon's 2023 rebrand, with TeenNick also using a mix of new bumpers featuring older kids as well as repurposed bumpers from their 2019 rebrand.

A few aspects from each channel's previous rebrands are still being used, such as the pink lower-third credits on TeenNick, and the old ratings icons on Nicktoons.

Update (1/31): Nickelodeon has unveiled a new NickMusic splat logo!:

Nickelodeon In 2023 By The Numbers | Ratings

As with most other linear TV networks, Nickelodeon also saw decreases in viewership across most of its network in 2023.

Nickelodeon Splat logo (2023 rebrand)

According to Nielsen viewing figures for Primetime, Nick@Nite was the most-watched Nickelodeon channel in 2023, ranked 47th most-watched channel overall with an average of 245,000 viewers, down 13% from 2022.

Nickelodeon itself was the second most-watched Nickelodeon channel, ranking 60th place overall with an average of 190,000 viewers, down 34% over the previous year.

The third most-watched Nickelodeon channel was Nick Jr., ranking 87th place with an average of 112,000 viewers, also down 34% over 2022.

In fourth place is Nicktoons, ranking 109th overall with an average of 58,000 viewers, down 11% over the previous year.

However, bucking this trend is TeenNick, which saw a 19% increase in viewers this year, ranking 115th overall with an average of 51,000 viewers, buoyed by reruns of beloved series Henry Danger and iCarly.

Sadly, the trend of declining viewership continues in the Adults 18-49 demo.

Nick@Nite was 30th most-watched channel with Adults 18-49, with an average of 105,000 viewers, down 14% over 2022.

Nickelodeon was the 39th most-watched channel with Adults 18-49 in 2023, averaging 75,000 viewers, down 27% over 2022.

Nickelodeon Experience - Worldwide Day of Play 2023: Nickelodeon has announced the return of its global Worldwide Day of Play (WWDoP) campaign, in partnership with the Association of Children’s Museums (ACM), as part of Nickelodeon’s Our World global initiative. Worldwide Day of Play will take place Sept. 30, 2023. The Association of Children’s Museums, an Our World coalition member, is partnering with Nickelodeon to bring Worldwide Day of Play activations to affiliates around the globe on September 30th, reaching more than 1.8 million kids and caregivers. Museums participating in Worldwide Day of Play have the opportunity to feature custom Nickelodeon activities that help highlight the importance and transformative power of active play. Participating ACM locations will also feature a varied array of activities, including Mess Fest! at Sacramento Children's Museum, Play Fair! at Children's Museum Curacao, Toys and Games from Franklin's Early Days at the Franklin Area Historical Society (OH), and Slime Time at the Schoolhouse Children’s Museum (FL). Families can check www.childrensmuseums.org/dayofplay/ for information on activities going on in their city, town or area.

Nickelodeon will begin rolling out messaging encouraging kids and families to get up and get active this Worldwide Day of Play (Sept. 30) across its linear, social and digital platforms Thursday, Sept. 29. Kids and families can also www.childrensmuseums.org/dayofplay to get tips on ways to celebrate play and access toolkits to help plan their own WWDoP activities. Additionally, Nickelodeon has teamed up with Our World partner Aspen Institute to create the “Worldwide Day of Play Playbook” that amplifies youth voices and demonstrates how play can be a powerful tool in skill building.
