The Maharashtra state government has formed an expert committee to examine whether Class 12 board examination marks should be considered along with the MHT CET 2027 percentile score for admissions to BTech and BPharm programmes.
The five-member panel has been asked to submit its recommendations to the state government within 15 days. It will study how much weightage should be given to Class 12 marks and the MHT CET percentile while preparing the admission merit list.
The committee will also suggest an appropriate weightage ratio between HSC board marks and MHT CET performance. However, no final decision has been made yet on whether Class 12 marks will become part of the admission criteria.
MHT CET is currently conducted by the Maharashtra State CET Cell for admission to various undergraduate professional degree programmes, including engineering and pharmacy, according to the applicable CET admission rules.
The expert panel will examine the possibility of including Class 12/HSC marks in the merit calculation for BTech and BPharm admissions.
It will also determine how the marks obtained in the Class 12 board examination could be combined with the MHT CET percentile score. The committee is expected to recommend a suitable formula or ratio for calculating the merit list.
The timeline for introducing any such change will also be important, as students need sufficient time to prepare for both their Class 12 board examinations and MHT CET 2027.
For now, aspirants should not assume that Class 12 marks will definitely be included in the MHT CET 2027 admission merit list.

The Maharashtra government has constituted a five-member committee consisting of senior officials and representatives from leading educational institutions.
The Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai, who also serves as the Chairperson of the Maharashtra State Academic & Research Council (MahaSARC), has been appointed as the committee's Chairperson.
The remaining members include:
Vice Chancellor of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere
Vice Chancellor of COEP Technological University, Pune
Director of Higher Education, Pune
Director of Technical Education, Mumbai, serving as Member Secretary
The panel will examine the proposed admission criteria and submit its recommendations to the Maharashtra government.
If the proposal is eventually approved, Class 12 board marks could become an additional factor in determining the admission merit for BTech and BPharm programmes.
Under such a system, the merit list could take into account both the MHT CET percentile and Class 12 examination performance, instead of relying solely on the existing admission criteria.
However, the exact weightage, calculation method and formula have not been finalised at this stage.
Until an official decision is announced, students should continue preparing for both MHT CET 2027 and their Class 12 board examinations.
The proposed change is currently under examination and should not be treated as a confirmed admission rule for MHT CET 2027.
Candidates should wait for an official notification from the Maharashtra government or State CET Cell before making assumptions about changes to the merit calculation process.
Once the expert committee submits its report and the government takes a decision, further details regarding the weightage of Class 12 marks and MHT CET percentile are expected to become clear.
Aspirants should continue to follow official announcements related to MHT CET 2027 admissions and rely on the final notification for the applicable admission criteria.
