A total of 1,81,927 students secured admission to BE/BTech programmes through Maharashtra CET admissions in 2026. The gender-wise data shows that male candidates accounted for more than two-thirds of the total admissions.
Out of the total admissions, 1,14,121 were male candidates, while 67,806 were female candidates.
The branch-wise admission figures indicate that Computer Engineering was the most preferred option among students. A total of 28,170 candidates enrolled in the branch, representing around 15.48% of all BE/BTech admissions recorded in the state.
Mechanical Engineering ranked next with 19,702 admissions, followed by Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, which recorded 18,895 admissions.
Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) stood fourth with 18,277 admissions, while Information Technology recorded 15,219 admissions, accounting for approximately 8.37% of the total admissions.
Other branches that attracted a considerable number of students included Civil Engineering with 14,213 admissions, Electrical Engineering with 11,726 admissions, and Artificial Intelligence and Data Science with 10,502 admissions.

Among the universities included in the Maharashtra admission data, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) recorded the highest number of BE/BTech admissions in 2026.
A total of 64,822 students were admitted under SPPU, representing 35.63% of the total admissions covered in the dataset.
Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University, Lonere followed with 34,385 admissions, accounting for 18.90% of the total.
Mumbai University recorded the third-highest figure, with 32,126 students admitted, representing 17.66% of the total.
Together, these three universities accounted for 1,31,333 admissions, or approximately 72.19% of the admissions included in the data.
The admission figures indicate strong student interest in computer science, information technology and artificial intelligence-related programmes. Computer Engineering, CSE, IT and AI-focused branches featured prominently among the selected courses.
At the same time, traditional engineering disciplines such as Mechanical, Civil and Electrical Engineering also recorded substantial numbers of admissions.
