At India Mobile Congress 2026, GSMA launched three reports on how India can turn digital scale into growth and trust.
With around 1.2 billion active mobile connections and roughly 450 million 5G connections, the next chapter is less about connecting people and more about what that connectivity delivers.
The three reports:
1. India Ecosystem Insight Report: From Mobile Connectivity to Digital Infrastructure
Calls for AI-ready networks, stronger enterprise digitisation, and trusted digital services, backed by sustainable investment.
2. Digital Nations 2026: Building Trusted Digital Ecosystems in Asia Pacific
Assesses 22 countries and sets out four foundations of digital trust: verifiable identities, authentic communications, resilient networks, and responsible sharing of trusted information. India is strong on infrastructure and security; the opportunity now is enterprise adoption, innovation, and wider mobile internet use.
3. India Consumer Scam Report 2026: Permission Granted, Cases Still Open
12% of respondents were scammed in the past year. 72% have changed behaviour because of scam risk. 86% reported cases, yet a third remain unresolved, and 67% of victims who lost money recovered none. Trust rises sharply when cases are resolved.
As GSMA Director General Vivek Badrinath put it: “India has demonstrated that it can deliver digital scale. The opportunity now is to turn that scale into innovation, enterprise growth and trusted digital services… Digital trust is not simply a safeguard. It is infrastructure for growth.”
