Question from FactAndSource (00:32, 28 August 2026)

[edit]

Hi Emma, thank you for the warm welcome! I really appreciate you reaching out and offering to help with editing questions. I’m looking forward to learning more about Wikipedia and contributing constructively. No worries at all about the response time, take your time. 😊 --FactAndSource (talk) 00:32, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@FactAndSource: Hi there, welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for the nice message! Do let me know if you have any questions. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 02:18, 28 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Thatboi Scott (03:21, 29 August 2026)

[edit]

Hey Can Someone Please Help Me With A Article For My Business “ThatBoi Scott” I’m A Upcoming Content Creator --Thatboi Scott (talk) 03:21, 29 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Thatboi Scott: Hi there! Wikipedia isn't a place to promote your business (see WP:PROMO). An up-and-coming business in particular isn't going to meet Wikipedia's strict notability requirements. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and best of luck with your business! Chocmilk03 (talk) 10:44, 29 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from ChrisBeckbeck on User:ChrisBeckbeck (18:10, 30 August 2026)

[edit]

Hey my wiki pedi page I made yesterday was deleted. I had a load of information on it. --ChrisBeckbeck (talk) 18:10, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@ChrisBeckbeck: Hi there! I see that your userpage was deleted on the grounds that it was unambiguous advertising or promotion. That sort of content isn't appropriate for Wikipedia, even on your own userpage.
The deletion notification advises you to contact the deleting administrator if you want to retrieve the content. It's unlikely they would restore the page, but they may be able to send you the content for your future reference.
It looks like the deleting administrator was KylieTastic. @KylieTastic: are you able to assist this user? Many thanks, Chocmilk03 (talk) 19:45, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hey Chocmilk03 happy to help. Hi ChrisBeckbeck, your user page was not just promotional but clearly just joke/hoax content. Such as you may own an apple or more, but you are not the "owner of Apple" nor did "Asians created the PlayStation 4 for Chris Beck only". Wikipedia is not the place for you to make up such things, there are plenty of other websites this is allowable but not here. KylieTastic (talk) 19:51, 30 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Jody Mars (12:43, 31 August 2026)

Hi Chocmilk02, (lovely username by the way). No questions at the moment. I will let you know if I do. Thanks for being in the background... --Jody Mars (talk) 12:43, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Jody Mars: thank you for the kind message, and welcome to Wikipedia! I've popped a message on your talk page with some useful links, in case those are helpful, and you're welcome to message me any time. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 21:05, 31 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from VeniceBeachSpaniel (23:39, 3 September 2026)

[edit]

Hi Emma from New Zealand: I'm the founding director of the Karsh Journalism Fellowship. I found multiple problematic lines about the fellowship in the entry for Jacki Karsh. I submitted a request for edit as I know I'm not a disinterested party. How long does something like that take before there is a response? Thanks... Rob from L.A. --VeniceBeachSpaniel (talk) 23:39, 3 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@VeniceBeachSpaniel: Hi Rob, welcome to Wikipedia! Submitting an edit request is definitely the right approach when you have a COI. Unfortunately it seems it's been rejected already due to appearing to have been generated by an LLM. I suggest writing a request from scratch in your own words, making sure to include links to relevant sources, and hopefully it will get reviewed quickly. The timing can vary a lot as Wikipedia editors are all volunteers and there are a lot of COI edit requests. You could also consider sticking to one issue at a time (and dealing with higher priority or more obvious issues first), which would make it more likely you'd get a swift response. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 00:37, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks... I did use Claude because i am really a newbie to Wikipedia's back end. OK, will redo.... ~2026-48039-76 (talk) 01:24, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi Emma: I wrote a correction request and have not heard back, and no changes have ben made despite the clear factual and sourcing errors. What are my next steps?
Thank you
rob VeniceBeachSpaniel (talk) 21:29, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@VeniceBeachSpaniel: Unfortunately, COI requests often do take a bit of time to get responses. As I mentioned, Wikipedia editors are all volunteers. And as the guidance at WP:ER states:

Please be patient: it can take anywhere from a day to several months for an edit request to be acted upon. This is especially true for COI edit requests. Do not post reminders, as they are unnecessary.

Your request also includes quite a few different issues, which makes it less likely to get a prompt response. If I was you, I'd consider just posting one issue at a time (and only posting a new issue after the earlier one gets resolved). Best wishes, Chocmilk03 (talk) 21:19, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Aljubear (12:52, 4 September 2026)

[edit]

Public Notice: Your message will be posted publicly on your mentor's user talk page under the username Aljubear.

What to write: Type a polite greeting and state your question clearly in the text box (e.g., asking how to add citations, edit a page, or upload images).

Publishing: Once you type your question, the Publish button at the top right will activate, allowing you to send it. --Aljubear (talk) 12:52, 4 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Aljubear: those are indeed the instructions for sending me a message! Did you have a question? Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 00:38, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Worldlust (00:10, 5 September 2026)

[edit]

Hi Chocmilk03, thanks for the warm welcome to the Wikipedia community. I love New Zealand! Thanks again for reviewing the draft "Michael Metzger". I now made edits throughout the article, revised references, added biographical information, and changes sentence structures and wording. I just resubmitted the article. Thanks for checking it out! Lauren --Worldlust (talk) 00:10, 5 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Worldlust: Thanks Lauren for your message! NZ is awesome. :) I've just looked at the resubmitted version and it appears the changes are still really minimal. I may not have been clear enough in my previous message (apologies), but you need to delete the existing text/references entirely and start completely from scratch. I appreciate that may seem like overkill, but Wikipedia's WP:NOLLM policy is really strict. A short and basic article written entirely in your own words, with your three or four best citations (i.e. reliable that provide the most comprehensive coverage of Metzger), will be more likely to pass AFC than the current version. Best wishes, Chocmilk03 (talk) 09:01, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi again Emma, thanks for your continued guidance. I think I am getting the hang of this now. I made another round of substantial edits removing entirely any unnecessary elements keeping only the essential paragraphs. I double checked all references, reduced the overall reference count, restructured the chapters in the draft to make it more concise. I rewrote all text in my original words - no worries it is not overkill to ask for this and kind of nice these days to have a platform with human content only. Thanks for yet another round of review! Lauren. Worldlust (talk) 15:02, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from GKartik820 on SAWE (03:47, 6 September 2026)

[edit]

Hello I am Kartik! I want to know, How can I revise tone of article?

Article/Page link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=SAWE&gesuggestededit=1#/editor/all --GKartik820 (talk) 03:47, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@GKartik820: Hi there Kartik, welcome to Wikipedia! Great to have you with us.
When an article is flagged for tone issues (or a section of an article, as in this case), it means it's not written formally in the style of an encyclopedia. Reading articles on Wikipedia, particularly articles that have been assessed as Featured Article quality, is a good way to familiarise yourself with the style of writing (and the content) that Wikipedia articles should have. WP:TONE has some more information about this.
In the case of SAWE, under "Mass Properties Engineering", the article begins with "Think for a moment about the latest new milestone in technology in the news today". That's very much not something you would read in a formal encyclopedia article, right? To be honest, there also doesn't seem to be any useful factual content in this section; it just seems to be trying to persuade us of the importance of mass properties engineering (why, I'm not sure). I would probably personally just delete the section rather than trying to rewrite it in an encyclopedic way.
I hope that's helpful and makes sense! Revising tone can be quite tricky as a newcomer task, so if you're not sure, it might be best to try something else and get your head around Wikipedia's writing style a bit by reading other articles. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 08:54, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Andy6493 (04:13, 6 September 2026)

[edit]

Can you find me Chaldean Catholic Aritcles to be edited --Andy6493 (talk) 04:13, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

If I may chip in: have a look through Category:Chaldean Catholic Church and the sub-categories within. That's close to 200 articles to choose from. Schwede66 07:55, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Schwede66, very helpful as always! @Andy6493, hope that category assists, and all the best with your editing. :) Chocmilk03 (talk) 08:55, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Realname29 (17:05, 8 September 2026)

[edit]

Hey! How are you doing? I finished an article - should I submit it for review? Or this goes automatically? Cheers, Realname29 --Realname29 (talk) 17:05, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Realname29: Hi there! I'm well, thanks for asking. :) Yes, if you're happy with the article then submitting it for review is the next step - I see you've just done this (apologies for my delayed response!). FYI, you can continue to improve the article while it waits for review, if you like. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 22:32, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Problem with ref for an item from The WP Library

[edit]

Hi there, Chocmilk03. I've noticed you're pretty good at dealing with all kinds of issues and wonder whether you could help me with a source I found for Sonja Hanneborg. You'll see I found Ref 2 from jstor via The Wikipedia Library. It has lots of useful info on Hanneborg but as you probably know, WP Lib urls are not acceptable and we're supposed to provide a url directly to the article in question. I have spent at least half and hour trying to find the correct url, which from the footer on each page, shoud be from the Journal of Computer Science and Trchnology, November 1995. If I turn this up in the archives, I find this, which does not contain the article. Maybe there's a simple solution to all this. Can you help?--Ipigott (talk) 14:38, 12 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Ipigott: I'm honoured by your faith in me! I think I've found it, by taking the number from https://www-jstor-org.wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/stable/42989672 and putting it in JSTOR's usual stable URL format: https://www.jstor.org/stable/42989672 seems to work, fingers crossed it resolves your issue. :) (It also looks like it's actually from the Journal of College Science Teaching, which might be partly why you've been having trouble tracking it down?) Hope this is helpful! Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 08:47, 13 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I see my faith in you was fully justified. That's for your assistance. Everything is now as it should be. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:30, 13 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Felix majuba anakwa (19:19, 14 September 2026)

[edit]

Hello how can I add my self on Wikipedia --Felix majuba anakwa (talk) 19:19, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Felix majuba anakwa: Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia! Can you clarify what you're trying to do, please? If you mean creating an article about yourself, Wikipedia generally discourages writing autobiographies because of conflict-of-interest concerns (see WP:AUTOBIO). Or do you mean you want to create a user page attached to your account where you can tell other editors a bit about yourself? If that's what you're meaning, I can absolutely help with that. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 21:27, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

A barnstar for you!

The Writer's Barnstar
Even though you apparently aren't a fan of CS2 (*grumble grumble*), your progress at Your Name Here (novel) was inspiring to watch, and the resulting article is wonderfully written. Thank you for rescuing the draft from a horrible fate. Staraction (talk · contribs) 02:08, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Staraction: Embarrassingly, I must confess that I didn't know what that CS2 template was; I thought it was something to do with the AFC process. I had, separately, wondered why citations on the draft didn't have full stops at the end. :D Learn something new every day! Thank you for the kind words, and for drawing my attention to this fascinating book in the first place. Best wishes, Chocmilk03 (talk) 02:13, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Ninjaman926 (11:51, 17 September 2026)

[edit]

Hello Emma, do you know how to make an article? --Ninjaman926 (talk) 11:51, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Ninjaman926: hi there, and welcome to Wikipedia!
Creating a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, especially for new editors. It's usually a good idea to start by editing existing articles so you can get a feel for how things work. I can see you've made a start on that already, which is excellent; you might find the tutorial and suggested edits on your homepage to have some other helpful ideas for how to contribute.
If you really do want to create an article, then Help:Your first article has further guidance. It's important to read this carefully before you start, as you might find that the article you want to create doesn't meet Wikipedia's requirements. Let me know if you have any specific questions, and I'm happy to help further. Cheers, Chocmilk03 (talk) 21:40, 17 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Women in Green's October 2026 Edit-a-thon

[edit]

Hello Chocmilk03:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2026!

Running from October 1 to 31, 2026, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films or organizations created by women) during the event period — and this time, we are extending our focus to encourage more Did You Know (DYK) submissions spotlighting new GA articles about women and women's works. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by the event's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!

@Wik2025 Hi there, welcome to Wikipedia!
Creating a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, especially for new editors. It's usually sensible to improve some existing articles first so you can get a feel for how things work. The tutorial and suggested edits on your homepage would be a great place to start.

[edit]

I noticed wutang from the game overwatch is missing a page is there a way I can make one --Yzerrp1 (talk) 22:07, 25 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Yzerrp1: Hi there, welcome to Wikipedia! You potentially can, if the character is notable in their own right. (This means if there's significant coverage of them in reliable, independent secondary sources; material sourced from Blizzard or fan blogs for example wouldn't count.)
A word of caution though: creating a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, especially for new editors. It's usually sensible to improve some existing articles first so you can get a feel for how things work. The tutorial and suggested edits on your homepage would be a great place to start.
I see there's already a section about the character at Characters of the Overwatch franchise#Wuyang, so you might also want to take a look at that and see whether you could make any improvements to it.
If you're still keen to go ahead, have a read of the guidance at Help:Your first article. It would also be worth looking at the Wikipedia pages for other notable Overwatch characters to see how they're structured. Let me know if you have any further questions (e.g. about whether particular sources are appropriate to use, or how to do technical things like adding citations), and I'll be happy to help.
