The Khmers Kampuchea-Krom Federation (KKF) is a powerful voice for the courageous Khmer-Krom people in Kampuchea-Krom, especially when their fundamental human rights are violated. Despite the continued suppression of their Indigenous identity and the persecution of Khmer-Krom monks, activists, and community members by the Vietnamese government, KKF has forged strong partnerships with respected human rights organizations around the world. This ensures that the bravery of the Khmer-Krom people in the face of such injustices is not forgotten or ignored.
Through partnership with international human rights groups, religious freedom advocates, and indigenous networks, KKF has worked tirelessly to bring global attention to the human rights oppression against the Khmer-Krom. When cases of detention, defrocking, harassment, or unjust imprisonment arise, KKF works closely with its partners to gather documentation, submit urgent reports, and deliver evidence to relevant international mechanisms.
These joint efforts have led to the submission of detailed reports to the United Nations Human Rights Council, UN Special Procedures, and relevant Special Rapporteurs, especially those on the rights of indigenous peoples, freedom of religion or belief, and arbitrary detention. When Khmer-Krom monks and activists are imprisoned simply for peacefully advocating for their rights, KKF and its partners swiftly submit their cases to bodies such as the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD).
Beyond reporting, KKF has also participated in conferences and policy discussions organized by its human rights allies to speak directly about the abuses the Khmer-Krom endure. Whether addressing European policymakers or briefing national human rights agencies, KKF has ensured that the Khmer-Krom’s lived experiences and calls for justice are heard in the highest halls of power.
This collaborative work is more than advocacy. It is a shield for those at risk. It reminds oppressive governments that the world is watching and that the Khmer-Krom are not alone. More importantly, it empowers the Khmer-Krom community to continue their peaceful resistance, instilling hope in the audience that change is possible, knowing that global networks of solidarity stand behind them.
As long as human rights violations continue in Kampuchea-Krom, KKF will continue to strengthen its partnerships, amplify its advocacy, and fight for justice on every available platform. With the unwavering support of human rights defenders around the globe, KKF is turning silence into strength and repression into resolve. This global solidarity makes each individual part of a more significant justice movement.
