The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) is the agency that spearheads the Philippines’ foreign services. It aims to boost and ensure the Philippine’s interest in the global community.

The DFA was founded when Apolinario Mabini became the Republic’s first Secretary of Foreign Affairs in 1898, as appointed by President Emilio Aguinaldo.

The department is led by the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, who is appointed by the President and confirmed by Congress through the Commission on Appointments.
