Kristine Singson

Kristine Singson-Meehan (Kristine Gacula Singson before she got married) is a deputy speaker of the House of Representatives. She was first elected as representative of 2nd District of Ilocos Sur in 2019, succeeding her father Eric Singson, and was reelected in 2022.

In both the 18th and 19th Congresses, under different House speakers, she was designated deputy speaker.

A member of Nationalist People’s Coalition, she comes from her province’s most influential political clan. Aside from her father Eric, her uncle Luis “Chavit” Singson and cousins Ryan and Ronald (Chavit’s sons) have held provincial elective posts for extended periods of time. Ronald Singson is also a member of the 19th Congress, representing the other district of Ilocos Sur.

Singson-Meehan authored the law that established a tertiary hospital under the Department of Health in her home city of Candon. It is envisioned to expand into a 500-bed hospital that can serve patients not only from Ilocos Sur but also from the neighboring provinces of Ilocos Norte and Abra. Her other priority programs include livelihood training for women and elevating state colleges into universities.

She is married to Anthony Meehan, with whom she co-owns Le Monet Hotel in Baguio City. They have four children.
