Mitch Cajayon-Uy

Mitch Cajayon (full married name: Mary Mitzi Lim Cajayon-Uy) used to represent Caloocan City’s second district in the House of Representatives in 2022 to 2025. She sought reelection in 2025, but lost.

Crowned Miss Caloocan in 2000, she has served in various elective posts in the city since 2004. She was also the executive director of the Council for the Welfare of Children, an attached agency of the Department of Social Welfare and Development, from 2017 to 2021.

She joined politics as a city councilor, serving for one term from 2004 to 2007. She then sought a congressional seat, winning in 2007 and 2010 but losing in 2013 to then-outgoing vice mayor Edgar Erice. She filed an electoral protest, which was dismissed by the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal — a decision affirmed by the Supreme Court. She resigned from her executive director post to join the 2022 congressional race, which she won.

In Congress, she was the author of the Anti-Bullying Act, the Mandatory Infant and Children Immunization Act, An Act Threatening the Juvenile Justice System, and other bills that promote women's and children's rights. She was also one of the authors of a bill seeking to lower the minimum age of criminal responsibility, but later on reversed her stand on the issue.

She is among the lawmakers who voted in 2008 to remove longtime House speaker Jose de Venecia following the latter's rift with then-president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. In 2024, she voted in favor of absolute divorce in the country.

In 2018, the Office of the Ombudsman filed graft and malversation charges against her over the alleged misuse of her Priority Development Assistance Fund in 2009. She was acquitted by the Sandiganbayan in 2021.
