Edward Thomas Filart Joson is a politician and businessman from Nueva Ecija. He is a member of the influential Joson political clan that has dominated provincial politics for decades.
He began his political career as a member of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Board, serving from 2004 to 2007. He was then elected vice governor and served from 2007 to 2010.
In the 2010 elections, he ran for governor but was defeated by Aurelio Umali. He returned to the provincial board in 2016, representing the 3rd District of Nueva Ecija. He later made two unsuccessful attempts to reclaim the vice governorship in the 2019 and 2022 elections, both times losing to Anthony Umali.
In 2008, he filed a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman against several provincial officials, including then-governor Aurelio Umali, for alleged graft and corruption. The charges were eventually dismissed due to lack of probable cause.
In the 2025 elections, he filed his candidacy for vice governor, running alongside gubernatorial candidate Virgilio Bote.
Joson’s grandfather, Eduardo Joson Sr., his uncle, Eduardo “Edno” Joson, and his father, Tomas Joson III, all previously served as governor of Nueva Ecija.
He is married to Ivy Joson.
