Amenah Pangandaman

Secretary (Department of Budget and Management)

Amenah Pangandaman is the current secretary of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), a position to which she was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in June 2022.

Pangandaman hails from Lanao del Sur and is the first Muslim to serve as budget secretary. Before being appointed to the DBM, she was assistant governor for strategic communication and advocacy as well as executive offices coordinator of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

Pangandaman was also an undersecretary and functional group head of the Office of the Secretary at the DBM during the administration of Marcos’ predecessor, Rodrigo Duterte.

She previously worked in the legislative branch, serving as chief of staff of the late former Senate president Edgardo Angara.

Pangandaman obtained her economics degree from Far Eastern University, and her diploma and master’s degree in development economics from the University of the Philippines.
