𝗗𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗯𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 High-efficiency supersonic engines depend on perfectly balanced rotational shafts and internal fluid channels. Boom Supersonic deploys UNISIG deep hole drilling systems in the Centennial machine shop to achieve precise depth-to-diameter ratios and flawless internal finishes. This capability is essential for machining key cooling passages and core shafts across the Symphony™ turbofan and Superpower™ energy programs. #IMTS2026 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗰 | West Building | Booth #432000 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗚 | South Building | Booth #339159 #DeepHoleDrillingMachines #BoomSupersonic #UNISIG

Meet Blake Scholl, Founder & CEO of Boom Supersonic, a Sunstone portfolio company. Blake is building a new generation of supersonic aircraft designed to make faster air travel a reality. Through Boom Supersonic, he is working to bring commercial supersonic flight back to the skies with Overture, its supersonic airliner in development. • We were thrilled to welcome our first guests into Boom’s newly completed Visitor Experience Center! Our inaugural open house gave visitors an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the Supersonic Renaissance: • XB-1 in person: Getting up close with the world’s first independently developed supersonic jet. • Behind the curtain: Touring the machine shop and assembly facility where Symphony and Superpower are coming to life. • Taking the controls: Testing their pilot skills in both the XB-1 and Overture flight simulators. This was just the start. We’re planning a series of upcoming open houses and look forward to welcoming more of our community to experience the supersonic renaissance firsthand. Want to be considered for an invite to a future event? Fill out our interest form here: https://lnkd.in/g5K6fVh8

  • Episode 5 of Build Supersonic is live! Here’s a story to tell your friends: What do you do when your brand-new supersonic engine rotor comes out shaped like a banana? You turn it into an S-curve 🍌➡️⚡️ When you’re dealing with tolerances tighter than the thickness of a piece of paper, tiny manufacturing variabilities add up fast. In our latest video, Blake Scholl and Lead Manufacturing Engineer Matt Segler pull back the curtain on how we assembled the rotor for our very first jet engine – and how practical engineering grit solves real-world hardware challenges.

In 1969, we landed on the moon and flew Concorde. Half a century later, we could do neither. Blake Scholl founded Boom Supersonic (YC W16), the startup building America’s first supersonic airliner, to change that. At Startup School 2026, he shares how a cardboard mockup with Office Depot seats became XB-1, the first independently developed jet to break the sound barrier, and why founders have to build for both the worst day and the best day. https://lnkd.in/gxQrZSTP

I deeply believe the future will better than the present—but it isn't automatically better, someone has to make it. Many times "someone" is startup people—founders and early employees. One of my favorite things is to speak to founders, and my goal is to inspire everyone to be more ambitious.
