Or doing it for “attention”. Or “it’s just a phase”. I’m not trans, but I have two neurons and I see the account of soul searching, anguish and then rejection, discrimination and downright hatred trans people go through. I don’t think anyone would choose such a path if the other option, living hidden away, aka “”normally””, was manageable.

As a previous white male, 6’1, i had an extreme amount of privilege. Transitioning saved my life and i simply wouldnt exist if i hadnt transitioned. Am i good at being a girl? No. Am i even feminine at all? Not really, but im much happier and i will eventually be the woman i want to be.

I dont think people really know the gravity of pain and anguish being the wrong gender gives. I dont think people realize how much hormones change you. I dont think it affects people in any way at all and they should get over themselves

As a woman, I got told that my wanting a career was “just a phase” and I would drop it once I would get married…. After I had spend almost 10 years pursuing a promotion after the other…

I can’t imagine how much worse trans folks have it.

  • And gods forbid you become indignant at your mistreatment, because that’s “cis man energy” and “unladylike” and “clearly you aren’t really trans”

Speak up about your mistreatment and it’s just used as an excuse for further mistreatment.
