The alliance of the reformist PP and Democratic Bulgaria runs on an anti-corruption, anti-oligarchy platform. It pairs rule-of-law reform with a firm Western orientation and demands a break with the power networks of GERB and DPS.

Values and Ideology

The alliance merges two political traditions: PP, founded in 2021 by two ministers from a caretaker government, and the reformists of Yes, Bulgaria! and DSB, who have championed Western integration since the end of communism. Both camps share the conviction that a web of politicians, judges and business interests has captured the state. They call for independent institutions, equal rules for everyone and a nation that secures its place in the EU and NATO. Tensions persist between PP's pragmatic technocracy and the more values-driven profile of the DB parties.

Political Priorities

The alliance's platform centers on judicial reform to rein in an overly powerful Prosecutor General, a crackdown on corruption and the digitalization of public administration. In foreign policy, it backs euro adoption, Schengen membership and support for Ukraine, and it seeks to end Bulgaria's dependence on Russian energy. Its core electorate is urban and well educated: voters in Sofia and other major cities, young professionals, entrepreneurs and Bulgarians abroad who want a modern state. Support is markedly weaker in rural and poorer regions.

Role in the Political System

The alliance casts itself as a driver of change while defending the institutions it wants to free from oligarchic influence. It pursues parliamentary majorities, street pressure through protests and backing from Brussels. This creates a dilemma: those who fight the old system must team up with its representatives to pass reforms. The alliance took that step by entering a rotating government with GERB, and it risked credibility among its supporters as a result. It remains fully committed to the courts, the prosecution service and the constitution.
