os/posix/nt still took open flags, wait/RTLD/SCHED/SEEK/PRIO names, and wasm errno numbers from libc or a three-constant Linux stub. Those names are shared with pyre, so they belong in host_env.

  • Re-export O_* from host_env::os. wasm32-unknown-unknown uses Darwin/BSD numbers, matching the guest errno table.
  • Expand errno_wasm to that table plus strerror.
  • Publish the remaining posix integer names (RTLD_*, SCHED_*, SEEK_HOLE/SEEK_DATA, PRIO_*, CLD_*, wait flags, AT_*, lockf, ST_RDONLY/ST_NOSUID).
  • os, posix, and nt take the names from host_env.

    • Added Darwin/BSD-compatible error codes and descriptive messages for supported errors.
    • Added advisory file-locking constants for supported Unix-like platforms.
    • Added WebAssembly-compatible file and open-mode constants.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Improved Windows file-opening compatibility with platform-appropriate flags.
    • Aligned file-open modes with platform-specific settings across supported operating systems.

os, posix, and nt re-export the host_env names instead of libc.

Publish wait, RTLD, SCHED, SEEK, PRIO, CLD, AT, lockf, and
statvfs flags so posix and os stop taking them from libc.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The PR centralizes platform constants in host_env modules and updates VM standard-library imports to use them. It also adds Darwin/BSD errno handling for wasm and changes stop-bit observation in a threading test.

Changes

Platform constant centralization

Layer / File(s) Summary
Darwin errno contract
crates/host_env/src/errno_wasm.rs
Updates wasm errno values, adds descriptive mappings, exposes strerror_string, and tests the shared EAGAIN/EWOULDBLOCK value.
Host constant exports
crates/host_env/src/{fcntl.rs,os.rs,posix.rs}
Adds target-gated re-exports for open flags, POSIX constants, and record-locking constants. Adds wasm open flags and an Android AT_EACCESS value.
Host environment call-site migration
crates/host_env/src/{fileutils.rs,io.rs,io_unsupported.rs,msvcrt.rs,multiprocessing.rs,nt.rs}
Uses shared crate::os and crate::errno::errors constants in place of direct libc or local constants.
VM constant import migration
crates/vm/src/stdlib/{nt.rs,os.rs,posix.rs}
Sources standard-library constants from host environment modules while retaining the existing names and target gates.

Eval breaker test stability

Layer / File(s) Summary
Stop-bit observation
crates/vm/src/signal.rs, crates/vm/src/vm/interpreter.rs
Limits stop_bit_set to test builds and updates the interpreter test to retry while the shared stop bit can change concurrently.

The remaining concern is limited to a test potentially missing a stop-handling regression under concurrent STOP_BIT changes; it does not establish a production failure. The PR is mergeable with this bounded test-coverage risk noted.

Populate the wasm errno table.

On wasm32-unknown-unknown, errno.module_exec exports only ERROR_CODES, but the fallback table is empty. Therefore, reachable Python code such as import errno; errno.EAGAIN can raise AttributeError, despite errors::EAGAIN being defined as 35.

bionic's libc crate does not export AT_EACCESS. Use the Linux
fcntl value there.

The eval-breaker unit test now waits for STOP_BIT to be clear
instead of requiring the whole process-wide breaker word empty.

Prevent STOP_BIT races from masking this test's regression.

Another test can set process-wide STOP_BIT after this test samples it as clear. eval_breaker_tripped() currently returns early when this thread's stop_requested flag is true, but if that check regresses, the concurrent STOP_BIT can make the global fallback return true and these assertions still pass. Serialize tests that can mutate STOP_BIT.
