Question from Yoshibabygirl (04:39, 20 June 2026)

[edit]

Hello Sunloungerfrog, I am new on here and hope to make a difference by editing and helping when necessary. I would also like to be able to create a page or so one day. If you have any suggestions, tips or rules on what can and can't be done, I would be grateful for anything you can send me. I have a couple of questions, here is my first one: Just curious as to why there are so many pages without photos? Look forward to hearing from you --Yoshibabygirl (talk) 04:39, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Yoshibabygirl, I've dropped some links on your talk page. I suggest that you start by trying some of the "Suggested edits" that are linked on your talk page, or take a look at various tasks you could try. In terms of photos, I guess many topics just don't have suitable photos to use at the moment. One of the key things with pictures is that you must respect copyright, so it's not allowed to just find a picture on the Internet and re-use it here. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:49, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
how would someone find out if a photo is copyrighted or not? I'm assuming that the ones that have 'shutterstock' etc. written across them are copyrighted.
But isn't once something made public, it's fair game?
Anyway, Thank you for the tips and links, I will definitely look them over! Yoshibabygirl (talk) 07:53, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
But isn't once something made public, it's fair game? I'm afraid not! Basically, if you don't know the copyright or licensing status of an image, you should assume that it's not suitable for Wikipedia. Take a look at Wikipedia:Image use policy for more information. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:50, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
thank you for your help Yoshibabygirl (talk) 20:10, 20 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
yes that right I think why they put real public in frame game like this it's real for me really don't know anything about it Oemchumdaven7887 (talk) 17:18, 18 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from NoahHughes410 (16:44, 29 June 2026)

[edit]

hi, i would like to know how to make it so that a piece of text takes a person who clicks on it to the subject's website. thanks! --NoahHughes410 (talk) 16:44, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @NoahHughes410. Which article are you trying to improve, and what's the website? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 18:24, 29 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
On the Burford School article, i would like it so that in the music article, when it says "Institute of Music" it takes anyone who clicks on it to that specific page on the Burford School website. Thanks again, NoahHughes401 NoahHughes410 (talk) 11:59, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @NoahHughes410 - it's not permitted to have external links as you suggest within the body of articles - see Wikipedia:External links § Important points to remember - as it is considered to be rather promotional. And https://www.burford.oxon.sch.uk/enrichment/music is not that much use as a source, because it is not independent of the subject. Reading through that page, if the Artsmark Gold Award from the Arts Council was published somewhere with some text about the provision of music at the school, that is independent and would be much better as a source, both for article content and to contribute towards notability. Question from Detroit Windsor Tunnel (21:28, 7 July 2026)

[edit]

I haven't done this before, but as the Detroit Windsor tunnel assigned person to do this I thought I would reach out. Any suggestion or thought are appreciated. I haven't drafted anything yet. However I can say that the Overview section is not correct and the note 3 doesn't support what is said. How do I know? I wrote that page too. anyways this is the section. Just looking to improve The tunnel has three main levels. The bottom level brings in fresh air under pressure, which is forced into the mid level, where the traffic lanes are located. The ventilation system forces vehicle exhaust into the third level, which is then vented at each end of the tunnel.[3] --Detroit Windsor Tunnel (talk) 21:28, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I guess that you are talking about the article Detroit–Windsor Tunnel, and that you work for the company that runs it, or something like that? In which case, two things: first, you need to change your username, because you're not allowed a promotional username: see Wikipedia:Username policy § Promotional usernames. Just change it to something that is not at all affiliated with the Detroit-Windsor tunnel. Second, can you confirm exactly how you're connected to the tunnel or the company that runs it, and then I can best advise about how to get the edits you want made. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 21:36, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I requested a username change in line with policy. I work for the company that runs the facility in senior management Detroit Windsor Tunnel (talk) 22:04, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from ThebestDimension (23:57, 7 July 2026)

[edit]

Hello! How do I create a new article? --ThebestDimension (talk) 23:57, 7 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @ThebestDimension. Before you get into writing new articles, I'd strongly recommend that you get some experience of just making edits to existing pages first: take a look at the suggested tasks page. However, if you're really keen to write an article from scratch, read through Help:Your first article first, then use the article wizard to guide you through the process. Some general suggestions from me:
  • The most important thing is to gather the sources from which you'll write the article first. Don't be tempted to write the article up front and then find the sources to back it up, because that's difficult.
  • Very generally, you will need three reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject to demonstrate that the subject is sufficiently notable to warrant its own article. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here.
  • Make sure you use your own words to write the article - don't plagiarise your sources, because copyright violations are taken seriously on Wikipedia.
  • Don't use a chatbot or other kind of AI to generate an article - they don't do a good job at all, and your article will probably end up getting deleted.
  • Use draftspace or your sandbox to draft your article, rather than create it first off in mainspace. That will allow you to take your time. When it's ready, just move it to mainspace.
Good luck! Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 10:14, 8 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from PolishHussar1569 (16:04, 12 July 2026)

[edit]

Hello. I am interested in helping to add edits to wikipedia in my freetime, but I am worried about possible political bias in editing. Are there any guarantees that the edits I make will be revised purely on fact and not on politics? --PolishHussar1569 (talk) 16:04, 12 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @PolishHussar1569, if all the edits you make are backed up with reliable sources, then you should be fine. If there needs to be discussion about the inclusion or not of particular content, that can be done on the relevant article's talk page. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 16:18, 12 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Ismailk.TR (12:19, 13 July 2026)

[edit]

Hello, are you available to chat? --Ismailk.TR (talk) 12:19, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Ismailk.TR, not real time chat, but I can try and answer any questions you have about editing Wikipedia. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 12:35, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello, apologies for the brief delay, I am writing regarding the school shootings in Turkey - particularly the 2026 Kahramanmaras school shooting as listed on tr.wikipedia.org (Turkish Wikipedia) The number of casualties the injury number has been mistaken and must be rectified to 13. Strictly according to the primary Turkish article on the attack (2026 Kahramanmara okul saldırısı) the number of individuals shot was indeed 13. The widely stated figure of 20 is also misleading as this number represents 7 other individuals who suffered injuries during the evacuations of the building by either jumping out of the window, or similar actions, these people did not directly receive gunshot wounds and are thus a direct product of the evcuation of the victims - they did not represent directly shot victims as the 13. For this article, to strictly reflect the Turkish documentation, it should be listed as 13 injuries as that is the only total as listed by official documentation for the attack itself. Ismailk.TR (talk) 13:13, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I can't really comment on tr:2026 Kahramanmaraş okul saldırısı as that's on Turkish Wikipedia, not English Wikipedia. The corresponding article on English Wikipedia is 2026 Onikişubat school shooting. If you have a reliable published source that says there were 13 victims, I suggest you start a conversation on Talk:2026_Onikişubat_school_shooting to discuss how best to update/correct the article. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:30, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
My apologies for the misunderstanding, you are indeed right I'm referring to the English Wikipedia page (2026 Onikiubat school shooting), and yes, currently, it indicates that the injured toll stands at 20. I was mistaken to rely solely on the Turkish Wikipedia as a reference for that point. The figure of 13 injured has been corroborated by published sources and the Interior Minister’s official statement where he differentiated the casualty number of the attack itself from the aggregate total: Interior Minister Mustafa ifti indeed clearly stated on April 15, 2026: “We regret to report nine deaths (...) and 13 wounded.” The 20 figure includes, as the Minister stated, an additional 7 individuals injured from jumping out of windows, who were not direct victims of shooting, which has also been reported by international sources like DW, CNN, and Daily Sabah when initially releasing the report. To align the infobox of the English article with the official Turkish document and the Interior Minister's definition of the shooting's death toll, I am requesting that the Injured field in the infobox be changed to "13" alone to match the Turkish article's content (so, without the "(13 by gunfire)" specification), since the additional 7 evacuation victims should be included as part of the narrative body of the article rather than as part of the total inflicted death count. Ismailk.TR (talk) 13:48, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Ismailk.TR, as I said, this discussion is best carried out on Talk:2026 Onikişubat school shooting, not here. It will help if you have the URLs of the sources you are talking about. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:03, 13 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello SunloungerFrog:

WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive in August!
The goal of this drive is to reduce the backlog of unreviewed drafts to less than a month of outstanding reviews from the current 3+ months. Bonus points will be given for reviewing drafts that have been waiting more than 30 days. The drive is running from 1 August 2026 through 31 August 2026.

You may find Category:AfC pending submissions by age or other categories and sorting helpful.

Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is a backlog of over 5000 pages, so start reviewing drafts. We're looking forward to your help! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:38, 19 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from JustAlap (19:39, 21 July 2026)

[edit]

I have a COI- can someone assist so that more details can be added using the appropriate standard? --JustAlap (talk) 19:39, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @JustAlap. Which article do you have a COI with, and is it a WP:PAID conflict? And what is the information you wish to add? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 20:10, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello! Sorry the page I'm referring to is Michael Harrison (musician). No, the COI is not paid. I work with his foundation and want to ensure that his page is accurate and complete. Thank you! JustAlap (talk) 20:20, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
hello! i just want to pop in and say that justalp is likely this temp user (you may correct me if i'm wrong), just so anyone else working with this has the appropriate context. i have tried my best to make the page functional and appropriatley discuss coi but im relativley new so im not sure about a lot of things, but the situation should be able to be well understood if you look at Talk:Michael Harrison (musician) as well as the discussion page linked above. if you (SF) have any questions or notes on how i can handle similar situations in the future, please lmk, because i have found myself accidentally digging out a lot of COI cases and want to be able to contribute properly with them
Jackjd0 (talk) 21:13, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
The person mentoring me is offering suggestions and suggested I create the account and add the COI statement, which I did. I don't understand your comment. Do you have a concern with what was added. If I'm not supposed to add it directly, perhaps you would like to add it yourself, assuming you don't have a COI either. Someone should add to this article. I understand that you are relatively new. and wondering if you have anything to contribute to this article? ~2026-41029-28 (talk) 21:22, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I'm afraid I'm having difficulty trying to make sure this page gets the attention it needs. Perhaps I misunderstood. I added the COI, created an account and added one line to the bio about Harrison's work with LaMonte Young. I've just been called out again by Jackjd0 as the temp user who added the additions before I was advised to create an account. I'm afraid this page will never be updated because it seems the comments from this user have very little to do with making the page better and more about calling me out for something I don't understand. I'm simply trying to understand and follow the rules to ensure the proper info is shared for this musician who has a very important history. How do I ensure that someone else other than me contributes to this article because it seems I am not allowed to add anything, from what I understand. Thank you! ~2026-41029-28 (talk) 21:33, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Regarding the addition you made about his work with La Monte Young, I think that looks OK and it's generally backed up by the source. The quibbles I'd make are:
  • the wording He became the only person to ever play the piece other than the composer, which is only backed up by the source if you added an as of 2003 qualifier or something like that. It is perhaps better reworded as He was the first person to play the piece other than the composer.
  • Also, I don't think the source backs up the statement serving as Young's exclusive tuner for The Well Tuned Piano unless I'm missing something. The source does mention at least two other people as being involved from time to time, Jon Catler and Bob Bielecki, so exclusive isn't right, and should be reworded too.
Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 23:27, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK. First things first, @JustAlap, please make sure that you are logged in to your account when you edit, so that it's absolutely clear what edits you're making.
I'm not going to labour the point, but I work with his foundation sounds very close to paid editing. If you are compensated or rewarded in any way, however indirect, for editing Michael Harrison (musician), that counts as WP:PAID, and you must make the necessary disclosures.
Regarding the conflict of interest, @JustAlap, I suggest you read this guide, and then use the {{connected contributor}} template to declare the conflict at Talk:Michael Harrison (musician). With regard to editing, as the guide notes it's best to do that by means of an edit request - you can use the {{COI edit}} template - that makes it clear the edits you wish to be made, the rationale for those edits, and the reliable published sources that back then up. It's easier to do a series of smaller edit requests rather than one massive one. It's not forbidden to edit the article directly, but it is strongly discouraged. I hope that helps, and give me a shout if you have further questions. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 23:09, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, I am not getting paid- if I were, I would know what I was doing. I am a grieving family member helping this Foundation give this man a proper wiki page and I didn't know when I started what constitued a conflict, but I certainly understand that one cannot exist. All of the people in that Foundation are volunteers, including his widow. I was just trying to help, her especially, but this may not be the appropriate project to work on at this time because responding to the comments is too difficult when dealing with the magnitude of this loss. Thank you for your assistance all the same. I realize I'm not the best person to handle this and I'm sure some other people who are very familiar with this man's reputation, and the ins and outs of making updates here, will come along and update his page sometime soon. I think I have a better understanding of what is required now. Thank you. JustAlap (talk) 23:55, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for clarifying your position, and I am sorry for your loss. Do let me know if I can help in the future. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:02, 22 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Duckyday22 (21:07, 21 July 2026)

Hello again, I was recently wondering what the criteria for posting an article about an active business is. Also this may be a stupid question but are google maps street view considered free use images. Sorry to bother you. --Duckyday22 (talk) 21:07, 21 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Duckyday22, no problem at all. The relevant notability guidelines for businesses are WP:NCORP. As for Google Maps Streetview pictures, unless there is something very clear to the contrary, then Google as the creature of the image will own the copyright, so they are not free use images. @JustAlap, I will take a look. But the existing source that you found is fine, I think, to support his discipleship. What would really help flesh out the article is critical reviews in reputable publications of his performances and compositions. If you have those to hand you could post them to the article talk page using the {{refideas}} template if you weren't comfortable making an edit request yourself. Then future editors will have them readily available to expand the article. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:37, 26 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Grizelda683 (13:43, 27 July 2026)

[edit]

Thanks for your help. I have contributed to Wikipedia for years and have never submitted anything or edited content there. I have a new topic to submit and need to edit it before submission for formatting and proper reference use. I got started in the sandbox and had to stop. I cannot find my sandbox draft now to continue my work. How do I find it? --Grizelda683 (talk) 13:43, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Grizelda683. I'm afraid that your contributions show nothing other than this question you asked me. Were you editing logged in to this account? Or maybe while you were logged out? What was the draft about, and maybe I can do some searches for you too find it somewhere. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:50, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I thought I was within my newly created account. I have an ID and password. I am too new to be certain. I can recreate the content with little effort. I need help in formatting the references within the text and in the format for uploading the two figures that accompany the text. Thank you for your help. Grizelda683 (talk) 13:52, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's probably easiest to start again then. Make sure you click the "Publish" button to save your draft, and let me know if you need help with the references or uploading the pictures. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:55, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah! I was afraid to hit the publish button for fear it would upload to the official site in an unfinished version. Is that OK? Then I can edit it as if I were editing anyone else's submission? Grizelda683 (talk) 13:57, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It is a bit confusing! If you take "publish" to mean "save", you won't go wrong. I think the reason it says "publish" was a legal one: effectively you are "publishing" - that is, "making it public" - what you write, but it is not in the main article space, so you don't have to worry about it being unfinished. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:02, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Help. I am being ambushed by another editor named Codename AD. He seems to think I can remember all the details of correct formatting the first time through. How do I learn if I am threatened with instant deletion on my first try? I appreciate his comments and am working to correct them now. Grizelda683 (talk) 17:37, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I think that your sandbox article is now not threatened with the prospect of speedy deletion. I would say, what you need is to demonstrate that the topic is notable: two and ideally three independent sources that address the topic in depth. I don't think you have those at present. Thank you!! Will a published annual series through a professional society and national presentations qualify? ~2026-41622-48 (talk) 19:48, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
I may misunderstand the mission of Wikipedia. I and Dr. Van Nuland are the developers of this model. We are not looking to market, only to encourage learning, discussion, and adoption. Is Wikipedia only for topics that are taught in high school English and History classes? This model defines a stable, sustainable country or regional governance system. It was first published and copyrighted in our names in 2021. It is not like McGraw Hill college textbook division publishes textbooks about it yet. The independent sources are distributors who are getting their content from us, the authors and developers of the model. Please advise. Grizelda683 (talk) 20:04, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
So, there are several difficulties with this. First and foremost, you have a conflict of interest with this topic, as you are a developer of the model in question. That means that you're discouraged from editing about it directly, as it will be difficult for you to maintain a neutral point of view. Second, Wikipedia is not the place to publish original research, or personal inventions. Before an article can be written, the topic needs to be discussed in several independent reliable sources. I hope that this clarifies things. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 21:19, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
It does. Thank you, SunloungerFrog. I will share your comment with my co-author. Do I delete the submission, or will you? Grizelda683 (talk) 21:52, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
You can just blank the sandbox page, or if you would prefer to delete it, tag it with the {{db-u1}} template, and an administrator will carry out the deletion in due course. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 06:20, 28 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

I've written an article for my company's page "Cialfo" on sandbox. But now I'm unable to add the company's logo and then publish it. I need assistance with it --PMishra-Cialfo (talk) 18:11, 29 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @PMishra-Cialfo. I've had a look at your sandbox page. There are several issues. First, it's good that you have made the necessary disclosures for paid editing. Second, you need to read the notability guidelines for companies, and in particular the reliable independent sources that are needed to establish a company's notability. You are a long way from having those at the moment. Third, some of the formatting looks very strange. Did you use an LLM to help you write some or all of the draft? As for the logo, you can only add that once the article is stable in mainspace. You're quite a way from that, so let's sort out the logo later. Let me know if you have any questions. Here I am waiting for editors to comments, but still no comments or discussion started. Now what should i do, should i edit this in main article or should not?

Regards, --Miali Pk (talk) 18:12, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Miali Pk, I think you can go ahead and edit the article, unless there is a reason why you shouldn't. Have you been told in the past that you are restricted from editing the article? Anyway, if you do decide to go ahead, I suggest you do it in small chunks: pick one reliable source, and gradually add in the information from that. Then do the next. Always try to use the best sources: a few really good ones are much better than lots and lots of mediocre ones. Don't do huge changes in one edit. And let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 23:54, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi, thanks again for your earlier advice.
I did as per your suggestion and did making small, well-sourced improvement to the article "Mohra Sharif".
It is visible on talk page that before editing i opened discussion there and proposed changes. After waiting some days there was no feedback, as per your valuable guidance I went ahead and updated only a small part of the article using independent historical sources and Punjab Government publications.
Later, another editor made a number of changes to the article, and an experienced editor cleaned up the page. During that process, my location update was reverted to the previous version, and the {{cn}} tag I had added for the current custodian statement was also removed.
I'm not sure what the best next step is, so I wanted to ask for your advice, please:
a). Should I now wait for discussion on the Talk page before making any further edits?
b). For updating the administrative location, would current Punjab Government records carry more weight than historical books and tourism publications?
c). Also, if a statement is supported only by a source that doesn't seem to verify the exact claim (for example, a website about a different shrine), is it better to raise that on the Talk page rather than changing or removing the statement?
I am still learning how to handle situations like this and want to make sure I follow Wikipedia's policies properly. I don't want to get into an edit war, I just want to improve the article using reliable sources. I would really appreciate your guidance. Thanks! Miali Pk (talk) 18:40, 4 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Miali Pk. Just on the administrative location, I saw that after your edit, the references in the body of the article were not properly formatted: see . The [6] and [7] should I think be properly formatted citations, and they are not. That is probably why your update was reverted. I would say that normally locations are not terribly controversial - after all, the shrine does not move.
On the point about a statement being supported only by a source that doesn't seem to verify the exact claim, you have a number of options. You could try and find a source that does verify the claim, and add that. Or, if you have reliable sourcing that means you can correct the claim, do that (adding the references at the same time). Or you can use the {{Failed verification}} template next to the source in question. There is a |reason= parameter that you can use to say briefly why you do not think that the source verifies the claim, or a |talk= parameter to link to a talk page discussion if it needs more explanation. I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:25, 6 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from AWEDDEWA (20:06, 30 July 2026)

[edit]

I use a phone to make edits on here and I've been struggling to try and generate the flags even though I follow steps online with no prevail, can you please teach me how to do this if you edit on a phone but would it be the same that you do if you edit on a computer? --AWEDDEWA (talk) 20:06, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @AWEDDEWA, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to do. Can you expand on what you're having difficulty with, and I can try and help. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 23:49, 30 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
when Austria confirmed it's participation for Eurovision 2027, I put it on the Eurovision 2027 page and the thing I struggled with was the flag, I tried doing {{flag|Country Name}} but it didn't work and I think it's because I edit stuff on Wikipedia with my phone, because back then when I didn't had an account and I was just an IP User, I think they're called that but I tried adding the United States flag a d making a Withdrawn Countries box on the Intervision 2025 page and when I did this {{flag|Country Name}} the flag didn't show, can you please help me on some steps when adding the flags and if you know if you can do that on a phone, Thanks. AWEDDEWA (talk) 06:48, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @AWEDDEWA, thanks for clarifying. It looks like all the entries in Eurovision articles use the {{esc}} template. For Austria, you would put  {{esc|Austria}}  to render as  Austria. It looks like someone has fixed this for you anyway. No reason that this shouldn't work on mobile - I'm writing this on mobile - but you may need to be in source edit rather than visual edit mode. I hope this helps! Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 07:26, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Emmanbotan

[edit]

Hi im back. i lost a lot of motivation ever since my article got declined but im gonna do some articles Emmanbotan (talk) 04:53, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Emmanbotan. I'm sorry you felt discouraged, but am glad to see you back again. I guess you are talking about Draft:Flora of Samoa. I think that the important thing to learn from this is that sources are really important. Without having good sources to write an article from, it's very difficult to show that the subject is notable. Now, I do think that Flora of Samoa is probably a notable subject - after all, an entire book has been written on them, so if you want to proceed with it, look for some others that discuss the Flora of Samoa as a whole, and then write some content based on them. Just make sure that whatever you write, in your own words, is based on those sources. I can help with copyediting if you like. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 04:59, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello mentor I was very curious and I googled the secretary of war since I am now watching it on television you do not have a current information about the current secretary of war for the United States of America. Why would that be? --Niceguytoo (talk) 16:08, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Niceguytoo. I think because Secretary of War is a secondary title: see United States Secretary of Defense, which has the current incumbent. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 17:06, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi SunloungerFrog, How do I add a new bulletpoint on an article, thanks --AWEDDEWA (talk) 21:52, 31 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Emmanbotan (06:06, 1 August 2026)

[edit]

Hey SunloungerFrog. When my article gets declined, then i submit it again, do i have to wait long? --Emmanbotan (talk) 06:06, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Emmanbotan, there is quite a big queue at Articles for Creation at the moment. Someone will look at it in due course. I know it can be a bit frustrating, but we are all volunteers, so things can take some time. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 06:22, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks but I am a bit nervous because my articles mostly get reviewed in under a day, so im paranoid that it will make 3 months or more. Emmanbotan (talk) 06:24, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
So articles about individual species are generally reviewed quicker, because it is usually straightforward to say that they are notable through WP:NSPECIES. Draft:Flora of Samoa is covered by the general notability guideline so it takes longer to analyse the sources to confirm that they demonstrate the subject's notability. Just be patient! Question from AWEDDEWA (10:17, 1 August 2026)

[edit]

Hi SunloungerFrog, I made a new Wikipedia article for the Estonian rap duo, Clicherik & Mäx, and after I finished it and submitted it, it said that it is getting reviewed and to see if it should be on Wikipedia, what does that mean? --AWEDDEWA (talk) 10:17, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @AWEDDEWA. Your draft Draft:Clicherik & Mäx is not currently submitted for review. To submit it, you need to click on the blue "Submit the draft for review!" button. When you do that, an Articles for Creation reviewer will look at it, and make sure that the subject is notable for inclusion in Wikipedia. To help that, you should check out the notability guidelines for bands, and make sure that the sources in the draft are sufficient. I would say at the moment, the draft needs more reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the rap duo. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 10:39, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from AWEDDEWA (11:50, 1 August 2026)

[edit]

My new article just got reviewed and it got declined and I was given feedback about it and I'm struggling to know what it means but it said the core problems are Significant Coverage, Reliable and Independent and I got my sources from allstarz.ee and Eurovoix, what other websites would you suggest me to get other sources to fix the core problems, I was thinking on Estonian websites like ERR bit I think it'll have less about them, do you know any other Estonian websites that could help me to get more sources about Clicherik & Mäx? --AWEDDEWA (talk) 11:50, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @AWEDDEWA. You might find User:Rusalkii/AfC source guidance helpful. Reviews of the duo in reputable published music magazines / websites (not user-generated reviews) are generally good sources for musicians. I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 11:57, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@AWEDDEWA, when you're editing, if you click on the little pencil at the top of the edit box, you'll get an option to switch between source and visual editing. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 12:22, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I'm afraid I can't help with the crashing and lagging - I don't think Wikipedia itself is having any problems, so it could be an issue with your device or your Internet connection - though I will point you at Wikipedia:Help desk and you could ask there. hello , i am new to wikipedia , i need to create a page for my relative who is a notable public figure ( a professional football coach ), can you tell me how can i start --Hope 008 (talk) 16:00, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Hope 008. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it's strongly discouraged to write about relatives. See the page on conflicts of interest for more information.
If you would still like to continue, use the Wikipedia:Article wizard to make the article in draft space, and then submit it for review, having made the relevant conflict of interest disclosures. The draft will need at least three reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject to demonstrate notability. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here. I'm happy to advise on the suitability of your sources when you've gathered them. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 16:09, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
i am really sorry to disturb you again but , you have said that the draft will need at least three reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject to demonstrate notability, so can i use old news , clubs official announcements etc as the resources to show the notability. Thank you for helping me Hope 008 (talk) 14:02, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Hope 008, no problem, that's what I'm here to help you with. Independent news reports about the subject in reputable publications will definitely help to show notability; club official announcements will not, although they can be used to verify basic facts. I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:26, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from AWEDDEWA (16:52, 1 August 2026)

While trying to do a few adjustments to my article about Clicherik & Mäx, I tried putting a Discography of their albums and singles like this

Discography

Albums "Häng" (2019) "Paksud" (2023) "Club Schlager" (2025)

Singles 2D tüdrukud" (2019) "Pargi 6" (2022) "Mõtled mu peale" (2023) "Kesköödisko" (2023) "Keerleb" (2025) "112" (2025) "Jolly Roger" (2025)

and everytime I save it and publish it, the writing keeps on vanishing but it only keeps the word Discography and I'm trying to find the root of this annoying problem. --AWEDDEWA (talk) 16:52, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Machine translation software

[edit]

Helly @SunloungerFrog, could you tell me what machine translation software produced the Diff/1367818748 text that you added to Linhu, Suzhou? I'm not alleging any misconduct here, there is a technical detail included in that edit and it would be both helpful and interesting to me to know what software produces this detail. ‑‑gurkubondinn 11:04, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Gurkubondinn. I use Google Translate, and then did a bit of checking and editing myself (I have some Chinese). The references I created from scratch based on the two references in the zhwiki article. The first is admittedly a bit dubious, because it's no longer live, and the only copy I found was an archive.today one, that I looked at myself and was satisfied that it looked reasonably integral. So I added the reference but marked it as {{dead}}. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 11:56, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I was mostly curious because of the two zero-width spaces in the wikisource. I've seen some hints that Google Translate may be prone to adding them (but I've also seen some signs that other LLMs may also do this). Btw, was that reference not saved in archive.org? ‑‑gurkubondinn 12:16, 7 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's interesting about the zero width spaces. As for the reference, I looked on archive.org, but couldn't find one. I also looked for an alternative live one, but couldn't find one that was suitable. There was a great user-generated site about all sorts of Chinese administrative divisions and their history, but obviously not usable here. Question from Sheeds AU (00:57, 9 August 2026)

[edit]

G'day SunloungerFrog.

THanks for being assigned my mentor. Long time wiki user, first time signed up. I appreciate reading the starter content I cannot create an entry for something I am connected/associated with due to conflict of interest.

I run in Australia the Mornington Peninsula Record Fair - and event running since 2020. I wanted to try and get a WIKI article done for us (we have links to official AU tourism sites, community radio and a stack of other references). We are not a business, but a community event for vinyl record lovers.

Website - www.mprf.com.au.

WIki page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPRF - was hoping I could get a brief Mornington Peninsula Record Fair (MPRF) page up and link on this wiki to it?

Can you please advise how this might be possible. Many thanks. Scott. --Sheeds AU (talk) 00:57, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sheeds AU, good job on reading the information about conflicts of interest for more information. I suppose I'd start with, what are your three best reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject? Knowing those will help demonstrate that the topic is sufficiently notable for a standalone article. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 12:33, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Cheers for the response. Morning (assuming Northern Hemisphere) :)

There are many more...but as we run 2-3 events every year, we have to upload new marcomms material for each event. Old listings are removed. This is the same for events (annual or more) and historic markets etc all over Australia.
We also had guest signings musical artists - one of Australia's top Bands from the 80s and 90s - Hunters and collectors - see this https://mprf.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Portrait_MPRF_Mark_A4Poster_final.jpg
Does all this help validate what we do and are - and getting a brief listing. We expect to announce in a couple of weeks a special guest for this fair (others are WIP) of a US Indie 90s band still popular today!
Thanks mate. Appreciate your consideration of this information. :)
Scott. Sheeds AU (talk) 13:37, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi Scott. Unfortunately I don't think these are sufficient, because they are not really independent. That is, they are all written or broadcast by people associated with the fair. Are there any reviews of the fair in the press? National press better than regional press, regional press better than local press. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:09, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Listings in particular don't help with notability. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:10, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK thanks for that.
Just to be clear. If I make a journalist(s) or news sites aware of our event - but offer no inducement to attend, no paid placement and/or no involvement in any written piece in National/State/Local piece about our event - and said journalist(s) have no affiliation to me or the event, I can submit these as independant.
Not having this yet (there was a write-up in a local paper which I can't find), I can submit this if it happens at the next fair?
AND - of course if it were to happen, if it contributes to a listing at Wikipedia - then that does not preclude that article being used subsequently by my event as part of our coverage for future events?
Appreciate the clarification so I can be certain of what is required for a case to be assessed for an entry - and what the later implications of having an entry are with anything used to support said entry!
) Cheers SunloungerFrog.
Sheeds AU (talk) 15:16, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
If the review is truly independent, as you describe in the first para, then it should be able to contribute towards notability. Generally speaking, you'll need three of those to justify a standalone article. And there would be no problem with using the review for any other purposes. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:36, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from LocoPM (20:57, 9 August 2026)

Hello, thanks for supporting me. How can I contribute to a specific topic that I am very familiar with (being the former project manager of this product). How can I provide evidence that I am who I say I am? --LocoPM (talk) 20:57, 9 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @LocoPM. So the thing about Wikipedia is that it is entirely built on what reliable sources say about a subject, not on what individual editors know about a subject. I suggest that you start by reading the information about conflicts of interest, as, being the former product manager, you are very likely to be conflicted. Then, you are probably in a great position to suggest reliable sources for the topic, and how they might be woven into the existing article, and I suggest you start a conversation on the relevant article's talk page about that. I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 22:37, 9 August 2026 (UTC).Reply

Question from Leadgreens (20:03, 12 August 2026)

[edit]

Can Instagram be used as a source if it comes from a verified account? --Leadgreens (talk) 20:03, 12 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Leadgreens. In general, Instagram and other social media is not considered reliable. It may be used for uncontroversial information about the Instagram user in question if there is no better source. What claims are you hoping to back up with an Instagram post? What is the company or brand that you would like to write about? You will need at least three reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject to draft an article. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here. You should also read the company notability guidelines. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 10:44, 13 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Can I create a page about a small indie game but I don't actually have any form of contact with the developer of the game, is it possible to publish a page without their permission? --MiniNinja19 (talk) 15:36, 16 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

You don't need anyone's permission, but you do need some sources from which to write the article. Very generally, you will need three reliable independent sources with significant coverage of the subject to demonstrate that the subject is sufficiently notable to warrant its own article. There's useful information about how to choose good sources and avoid bad sources here. You may like to seek advice from the video games project. Question from Malikselcuk (12:58, 18 August 2026)

[edit]

hi, how to make new article? --Malikselcuk (talk) 12:58, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Malikselcuk.
Good luck! Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:01, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Wangyunfan (09:06, 19 August 2026)

[edit]

Hi, I just figured out how to create a draft and then after I created one I can't find where to access it again. Do I have to create a txt file and save it in there or something? Best wishes, Wangyunfan --Wangyunfan (talk) 09:06, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Wangyunfan, hi. Unfortunately I can't see any evidence of your contributions other than this question. Did you create it when you weren't logged in, maybe? What was the topic? I can try and search for it. In the future, when you create drafts or edit articles, be sure to press the Publish button, and that will definitely save it. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 09:29, 19 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi, so you mean I create a draft and publish it, then edit it with edit source to finish it, and find it in Contributions? And I am not quite familiar with wiki templates, can you show me some common examples? Sorry for the late reply, kind regards. Wangyunfan (talk) 00:06, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
As long as you press Publish it will be saved, and you can always see all your edits in Contributions. You seem to be making good progress with Draft:List of Wings of Fire characters. What templates do you want to know about? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 04:34, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I am kind of really unfamiliar with infoboxes and adding citations. Thank you, good luck, Wangyunfan (talk) 06:25, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
For infoboxes, in the first place I would say don't worry about them - they are not required. If someone else thinks that an infobox would be useful, they can already add it. If you would really like to add one, then I'd suggest that you look at a similar article, and copy whatever infobox is on there, editing the parameters as necessary. You can always look at the documentation for an infobox too. For example, Template:Infobox character has all the instructions for filling in the infobox for a fictional character.
For referencing and adding citations, take a look at Help:Introduction to referencing with Wiki Markup/1 if you're using the Source Editor, or Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/1 if you're using the Visual Editor.
You didn't ask me about this, but for Draft:List of Wings of Fire characters, to show that this is a notable list, you need a reliable, independent source that discusses Wings of Fire characters as a group. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 07:13, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I kept track of all my sources and saved it in a Word document. But thanks for your reminder! Best wishes, Wangyunfan (talk) 08:11, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Sonny55oh, which article please? The best way to do it is to upload the picture to Wikimedia Commons, noting that it is your own work, and choosing an appropriate license. Then you can put it into the article or (better, as you will have a conflict of interest) suggest its inclusion in the article on the article's talk page. There's more information about the uploading process at c:Special:UploadWizard. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 19:36, 24 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

New pages patrol September 2026 Backlog drive

[edit]
September 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
  • On 1 September 2026, a one-month backlog drive for new pages patrol will begin at a particularly important time for NPP.
  • The backlog has now passed 30,000 unreviewed articles, a level that has been described in current NPP discussions as exceptionally high and potentially difficult to overcome through normal reviewing alone. Backlog drives are one of the few measures that have historically produced a noticeable reduction in the backlog, so the participation of as many active patrollers as possible will matter this month.
  • If you can review during September, please make articles your priority. Every article that is reviewed is a meaningful reduction in the backlog. With the queue at its current size, even a relatively small increase in the number of articles each patroller reviews can add up to a substantial difference over the course of the month.
  • This is a hybrid drive, so redirect reviewing is still included. Redirects can be a useful way for newer patrollers to get comfortable with NPP and can help people build up to reviewing articles. However, the main goal of this drive is to tackle the article backlog, and experienced patrollers are particularly encouraged to spend as much of their available reviewing time on articles as they can.
  • Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled.
  • Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points.
  • Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive.
  • Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive.
  • If you have been thinking about doing more NPP, this is an especially good month to jump in. Whether you can review a few pages or hundreds, every review helps. And if you are already an active patroller, please consider whether you can put in some additional time during September to help bring the backlog back under control.
  • Interested in taking part? Sign up here.

Question from Yeshuahhamasheah (03:58, 25 August 2026)

[edit]

I am upset that under my grandfathers article they have taken out my mother and my aunt and myself. They have said I am not an artist. I removed the promotional info that someone had done for me years ago. But now they say they have no proof that my mom is who she is and that we are surely Gordon’s family. We lived in the house he built in Palm Springs. Do you want my moms birth certificate? --Yeshuahhamasheah (talk) 03:58, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Yeshuahhamasheah. Which article are you talking about please? To include information in an article, that information needs to have been discussed in reliable, independent sources, and that's especially so for more private information, like family members details etc. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 07:29, 25 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Now they took my aunt and my mom out of the article. Under Gordon Coutts personal history. It ends that my mom’s mother, Gertrude, Gordon’s last wife, died. They took out about my mom and her sister and then me. What do they need to believe we are part of his family? They say the sources are unreliable. Yeshuahhamasheah (talk) 00:19, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Yeshuahhamasheah, as I said above, you need some reliable independent published sources, like a book or a newspaper article, that talk about Gordon Coutts's family. Then the information that's in those sources can be included. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:52, 26 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

HI @SunloungerFrog Can you reference videos. Because I found a helpful video of Arthur Whistler talking about Samoan Flora and I want to reference it. --Emmanbotan (talk) 08:25, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Emmanbotan you certainly can. Check out {{Cite AV media}}. You need to make sure that you do not cite something that breaches copyright though: quite a lot of videos on YouTube do that. If you send me the URL I could help advise on that. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 09:11, 27 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

I think that the video is fine to add as a source. It is a video of Whistler's presentation to Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research Group, and published by them, so I think there are no copyright problems, and both presenter and the research group are reputable. In short, you shouldn't have any problems. I'll let you get to grips with {{Cite AV media}} yourself, but if you run into difficulties in the technicalities of it, then let me know and I can try and help. Hi sunloungerfrog did you look over my info? Please get back to me. Yeshuahhamasheah (talk) 03:10, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @Yeshuahhamasheah. The desertsun.com source says that he had a daughter, Jeanne. The legacy.com source is Jeane's obituary, which also mentions her sister Mary. The cdnc.ucr.edu source (Desert Sun again) is about Roxanne Eilers as a singer. The findagrave.com source doesn't add anything to the first two. Taking all that into account, you could make a conflict-of-interest edit request on Talk:Gordon Coutts to amend the final sentence in the Personal life section of the article using the legacy.com source and the existing source to say something like:

With his third wife, Gertrude, Coutts had two daughters, Jeane and Mary. Gertrude died in December 1937 as a result of an automobile accident.

As for including this: Jean’s daughter Roxanne Coutts Eilers carries on the Coutts legacy of Art, this is not mentioned in the sources, and I don't think that you could request that this be included based on them. If you do have another independent source that talks about you and the Coutts legacy of art, fine, but I don't see that at the moment.

Hey, I just created an account today, never edited before, and I want to use the suggested edits feature on the homepage. I can’t seem to do the ones that involve adding links between articles. The visual editor toolbar is greyed out and I can’t do anything. Nor do I understand how to do the “revise tone” edits. --Eventhorizon12 (talk) 13:41, 2 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Eventhorizon12 - sorry you're having problems. I'm afraid this is not my area of expertise, so I am going to copy your question to the Teahouse, where someone should be able to help. In terms of the "revise tone" edits, generally the task is to make the language more neutral, when the existing content is more partisan than it should be. Question from 884437 (20:00, 6 September 2026)

[edit]

Hello, can you have a look and let me know your thoughts about my article on Claudio Furetta that I completely rewrote --Eric.42884437 (talk) 20:00, 6 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Eric.42884437. If you're asking for feedback on a draft, it's helpful to give the wikilink in your request. I took a look at Draft:Claudio Furetta. It is rather long, and I would suggest in the first instance that you try to cut it down a bit more: be ruthless. The second thing that I would ask is, what criteria of the notability guideline for scholars and academics do you think he meets? And which sources demonstrate that? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 06:55, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you very much for your feedback. I have now shortened the Draft:Claudio Furetta and tried to remove technical explanations and material that read more like a cv. I have kept the areas of research that seem important but tried to explain them much more briefly for a general reader.
I have also looked at WP:NPROF. I think the strongest case is Criterion 1. There are several sources that attribute specific contributions to Furetta and his research group. There is also independent evidence of his international impact. History of radiation protection in Taiwan specifically discusses Furetta's contribution to the development of thermoluminescent dosimetry there. Similarly a history of solid State Dosimetry in Mexico mentions Furetta's contribution to develop new radiation detectors, and in 2021 the International Symposium on Solid State Dosimetry honoured Furetta for his contributions to solid-state dosimetry.
Criterion 4 may also be relevant. Furetta wrote and co-authored several books on thermoluminescence, and A. J. J. Bos's review identifies Furetta's Handbook of Thermoluminescence, alongside books by Horowitz and McKeever, as a textbook covering thermoluminescence and its applications. There is also evidence of his books being used in postgraduate teaching.
I would be very grateful if you could have another look at the revised version and let me know whether you think the notability evidence is now sufficiently clear, or whether you think it still needs further work. Eric.42884437 (talk) 10:20, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Criterion 1 is always a bit tricky, as you have to show that the subject is head-and-shoulders above the average academic in the same field. I am not sure if what you have does that at the moment.
Criterion 4 can often overlap with notability as an author - the most straightforward way to demonstrate this is by citing reviews in scholarly journals of the subject's books. If you are able to do this, and show at least two books with at least two reviews each, then WP:NAUTHOR is usually considered to be met. So my suggestion is to augment the sections on his books with scholarly reviews, with a citation of the review(s) against the corresponding book. My usual practice (and this is personal rather than a rule) is to only include books in Selected works sections that have had at least one scholarly review.
On a more general point, you need a source for the dates of birth and death. I hope this helps - keep going, because the article is getting better each time. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 10:39, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
One more thing - I think you might have removed a couple of the full citations when you trimmed the article, so you need to put those back. When you do page preview, they will show up with an error message something like "The reference ABCDE is used as a citation but not defined". It's in red bold large text so should be quite obvious. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 10:57, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, and one more thing! The first section of the article (in this case the first three paragraphs, called the lead) should be a summary of what is in the body of the article (that is, from Education and career to the end). It is usual then to put citations as required in the body of the article, and not in the lead. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 11:54, 7 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @SunloungerFrog.
Thank you again for your very helpful feedback. If you have time, I would be very grateful if you could have another look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Claudio_Furetta, particularly at the Books section.
Please find below the changes I made. Do you think the combination of scholarly reviews, independent identification of the books as textbooks, and documented use in postgraduate teaching now makes the Criterion 4 evidence sufficiently clear, or is there anything else you think I should address before resubmitting?
Many Thanks
Eric
Here is a list of the changes:
  1. I shortened and rewrote the lead so that it summarises the body and removed the citations from it.
  2. I also shortened the research section further and tried to focus it on the development of his work rather than listing individual research activities.
  3. I rewrote the books section. I found two scholarly reviews of Operational Thermoluminescence Dosimetry, by A. J. J. Bos in Radiation Protection Dosimetry and Ian S. Hamilton in Health Physics. I also found a formal Journal of the American Chemical Society review of the Handbook of Thermoluminescence, while Bos subsequently identified the Handbook, alongside Horowitz and McKeever, as a textbook covering thermoluminescence and its applications.
  4. I was also able to find university sources showing that several of Furetta's books have been used in master's and doctoral teaching at universities in Brazil, Mexico, Turkey and India. Other universities are probably also recommending his books but I found many restricting online access to the course bibliographies.
  5. For Criterion 1, I also found a 2026 independent paper in Applied Radiation and Isotopes which specifically attributes to Furetta and collaborators the introduction of the computational approach for estimating both radiation dose and elapsed time after accidental exposure.
  6. I have also corrected the missing references you pointed out and substantially revised the Education and career section using institutional sources from the European Commission and CERN.
  7. I am still working on finding a suitable published source for the exact date of death, so I realise that point is not yet resolved. Hopefully I can get the university to record it.

Hi @SunloungerFrog,
For your information, I rewrote the research section of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Claudio_Furetta and combined the career and international collaboration sections. Hopefully this is now accessible to any reader. I hope to get an obituary soon.
Let me know what you think,
Many Thanks

Question

[edit]

i have no idea if i'm doing this right but i have a question about maintenance boxes and a specific citation that i encountered. what would suffice as an acceptable source to verify where someone graduated from college, especially if it was 50+ years ago? as for the maintenance box: i think i fixed the flagged issues, but i'm not sure. is there a way for a more experienced editor to take a look and let me know if things are fixed and, if not, how to properly fix the issues in order to remove the maintenance box. the flags are dates 2+ years ago, and since i'm already editing it to fix citations, i figured i'd try to fix it enough to hopefully remove the box Beepbeepboopbop35 (talk) 21:59, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Beepbeepboopbop35. Which article are you talking about? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 22:28, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Nancy Rubin Stuart this one! ive made some edits to it recently Beepbeepboopbop35 (talk) 22:50, 8 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
OK, so the maintenance template is about the subject's notability. On the basis of the article, there are two paths to demonstrating notability.
The first is the general notability guideline, and very generally that can be met by three or more reliable, independent sources with significant coverage directly about the subject. I have not looked through the article's sources in detail, but if you wanted to give me the three best sources here, I'd be happy to give my opinion.
The second is the notability guideline for authors. There are several ways to meet this, but the commonest is that the subject has at least two books that each have at least two decent, independent, critical reviews - that is, in reputable media, not Goodreads, Amazon, other user-generated reviews etc. Given that the subject was a NY Times columnist, I suggest you try and avoid reviews in the NY Times to sidestep any suggestion that these might not be independent.
I hope that helps. Give me a shout if you have any other questions. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:07, 9 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi, it's nice to meet you. Do you have any sites that you would reccomend finding citation sources at? I need help finding reliable sources. Thank you. --MikeyizDead (talk) 11:25, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @MikeyizDead, nice to meet you too. What is the subject that you're trying to find sources for? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 11:34, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
I'm not looking for anything in specific, just any databases or anything you've found helpful when you're editing? Like newspaper databases, historical archives. One thing in particular I want to find is a website that has reliable archives of who worked on a record/when it was produced that I can reference? Anything like that would be helpful. MikeyizDead (talk) 14:05, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hi @MikeyizDead. It really does depend on the subject, but very generally, I rely on books, scholarly journals and reputable newspapers as the sources for the articles that I tend to work on. I use The Wikipedia Library a lot, but you won't be able to access that for six months or so. For archives of records and recording information etc. I'm afraid that I don't really know, so the best thing you could do is pick the relevant sub-project of WikiProject Music and ask there. Sometimes individual projects have pages where reliable sources for their topic area are gathered - see for example Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources. I hope that is somewhat helpful. Question from India80 (22:48, 14 September 2026)

[edit]

How do I create a new article --India80 (talk) 22:48, 14 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @India80.
Good luck! Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:06, 15 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from BlueberryMulkalski (04:14, 16 September 2026)

[edit]

I already have another account but I forgot what Gmail and password I had saved on it, but that's not all. I heard that with the unfortunate popularity of A.I., Wikipedia has been used less and less over time. I came to mitigate the detriment that A.I. has posed a threat for Wikipedia for; to aim to achieve abandon ship of A.I and newfound passion for this awesome site. I've been against artificial intelligence for around its major popularity in the 2020's (or it would've been better to say that I've disliked it for as long as I knew it existed). I am going to help spread the word so that this amazing site can't be overruled by something so artificial. I'm going to do that by utilizing my Pinterest account. I'll even create a petition regarding A.I in general.

Question from 24 the GOLDEN (18:55, 30 September 2026)

[edit]

Hi, it's me, your protege 24 the GOLDEN, how do I write more citable drafts --24 the GOLDEN (talk) 18:55, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @24 the GOLDEN. I'm not quite sure what you mean by "more citable drafts". That said, I recommend that you always gather your sources first, before you start writing, and then you can be sure that the topic is notable, and easily add citations to content as you go. I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 18:59, 30 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

I mean just making citation easier for myself, because I know I'm stating facts but it's impossible to find citable sources that aren't banned or desecrated (i.e. Wikipedia, Newsbreak, EverybodyWiki, Famous Birthdays, etc, etc,) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24 the GOLDEN (talk • contribs) 04:21, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @24 the GOLDEN (please remember to sign your comments). One of the key things about Wikipedia is that all article content must be verifiable - that is, it must be possible to reference a reliable source for anything you write in an article. Writing from your own knowledge without having a reliable source is not allowed. If you don't have a reliable source, don't include the information. You might find Wikipedia:Verifiability, not truth a useful read. Sometimes it is easier to discuss a specific problem rather than a general issue - what is the information that you would like to include but for which you do not have a reliable source? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 04:46, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

They're just the most mainstream sources, and I've had draft submissions declined because they were lacking mainstream enough sources, meanwhile when I cite said mainstream sources, they're either straight up fuckin BANNED or desecrated.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24 the GOLDEN (talk • contribs) 13:10, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

What is the source you want to use, and what is the information that you want to use from it? If AfC reviewers are declining a draft because the sources are not reliable, well, they're not reliable. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:15, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also, I don't know what you mean by desecrated. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:16, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I mean things such as citing Famous Birthdays to provide verification for a celebrity's birthday, for example.— Preceding unsigned comment added by 24 the GOLDEN (talk • contribs) 13:36, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

24 the GOLDEN, please will you sign your comments. WP:SIGN tells you how to do it. The English Wikipedia editing community has come to the consensus that Famous Birthdays is unreliable. Look at WP:FAMOUSBIRTHDAYS for a short explanation as to why, and links to the longer discussions that came to that consensus. You are either going to have to find a reliable source for the date of birth in question, or just not put it in your draft. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 13:42, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

I know why it's banned but there are virtually no mainstream sources I can cite without edit filter warnings, Famous Birthdays, EverybodyWiki, Wikipedia, Newsbreak, etc, etc, can't be cited, so what can I cite to get my draft accepted

24 the GOLDEN, there's some good advice about finding reliable sources for drafts here. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 14:05, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from TrustHuss (06:10, 1 October 2026)

[edit]

I added to a Talk section on an article a few months ago, but I don't see it listed on my profile page. Where can I find it? --TrustHuss (talk) 06:10, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Never mind. I found it! TrustHuss (talk) 06:14, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Great! You can always check through your contributions at Special:Contributions/TrustHuss: it will list them all in descending date order. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 06:24, 1 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from ChinaTownAJ on History of the Chicago Cubs (18:58, 7 October 2026)

[edit]

How do I know where it's asking for citations in the suggested edits? --ChinaTownAJ (talk) 18:58, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @ChinaTownAJ. The best thing to do is read through the article, and, as you do so, look for paragraphs or sections that do not have an inline citation (the little blue superscript number in square brackets) to a source. All of those need citations for the claims they make, so anything you can add would be great. I hope that helps. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 19:10, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if there were specific things marked "source this" or "this needs sourcing" within an article that says that's what's missing.
Can you see edits I've done? How am I doing so far? I have decent editorial experience, I want to do as high-level stuff as I'm capable, including writing, so I'm trying to learn the ropes ASAP. :) ChinaTownAJ (talk) 19:19, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
One other question, for more experienced editors. When the section says something like:
This section needs expansion with: Citations that directly state the average annual HR for players reaching ≥40 annual SB, and the average annual SB for players reaching ≥40 annual HR, that can demonstrate the significance of the 40–40 club. These sources should not be synthesized using outside databases.
Where would something like the "average annual HR (home runs) for players who have 40 SB (stolen bases)" if not outside databases? If I wanted to finish the entry, how can one possibly source such a thing without looking at databases of MLB stats? (It's not difficult to do, I simply don't understand the caveat/stated restriction on sourcing.) Thanks! ChinaTownAJ (talk) 19:33, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's a great question, and I'm afraid it's rather out of my comfort zone. Probably a good place to ask would be Wikipedia:WikiProject Baseball, and they'd be able to give you a decent answer. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 19:40, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sometimes there are tiny {{Citation needed}} templates that are inline with the text. Check for those too, but I didn't see any on a quick pass through. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 19:37, 7 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from CultureBots (01:38, 8 October 2026)

[edit]

Hello,

I'm attempting to create a Wikipedia page on an emerging field of study. I've created a draft in my sandbox (https://w.wiki/X8hb) and would love some advice on its contents, appropriateness, formatting, and how to eventually move the article to Wikipedia proper. Thanks for any help you can afford and hope that this message finds you well.

Warmly,

Jeffrey --CultureBots (talk) 01:38, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from Milkessa-Temesgen on Scholarship (02:22, 8 October 2026)

No scholarships for grade 7? --Milkessa-Temesgen (talk) 02:22, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Milkessa-Temesgen, do you have a question about editing Wikipedia? Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 05:55, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Request for review: Kenton Hall

[edit]

Hi SunloungerFrog,

Thank you for reviewing my page about Kelvyn Hallifax.

I'm reaching out, because my mentor Oshwah is currently away. I have another article (in the title), which was tagged with {{ai-generated}} due to some translation artefacts in the draft's history.

I verified all the refs, added coverage from independent sources like ABILITY Magazine, Gigslutz, Mandy, etc.

Could you please take a look at the page, when you have a moment? If it looks good enough for the Wikipedia's rules to have the tag removed. I'm in semi rest, I can't make a full edit for now sadly.

Thanks. Stephen Garold (talk) 11:18, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi @Stephen Garold, I actually only reviewed Kellvyn Halifax because the article was nominated for deletion, and standard new pages patrol (NPP) practice is to mark such pages as reviewed, because the AfD discussion will come to a consensus on whether the article should stand or be deleted. I'm sure another NPP reviewer will be able take a look at Kenton Hall is due course. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 11:49, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for explaining, cheers! Stephen Garold (talk) 12:06, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

Question from BehavMedFan (14:52, 8 October 2026)

[edit]

Hi- I found a wikipedia article on Mental Stress-Induced Myocardial Ischemia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mental_stress-induced_myocardial_ischemia that has some very minor factual errors. But a bigger issue is the article leaves out areas and things that I feel would greatly make the article more informative and improve the content. This could be done while still keeping the article objective, concise, and in wiki tone. These changes would amount to a major revision of what's already there, but I am willing to do it. If I make these changes, the article will be changed a lot, and don't want to offend the original authors or anybody else by doing a big re-write and changing what's there. How would you recommend I proceed? Am not that familiar with wikipedia, so guidance would be appreciated. Will wait for your answer before I do anything. --BehavMedFan (talk) 14:52, 8 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
