There’s a full Moon rising. The Harvest Moon is the full Moon that occurs closest to the fall equinox. This year, it's on Saturday, Sept. 26. As the Harvest Moon rises in the east shortly after sunset, Saturn will appear nearby. Take a moment to look up and enjoy the view.
A bright, full Moon shines through dark clouds in the night sky over Cleveland on Sept. 17, 2024. That night’s full Moon was the Harvest Moon, as well as a supermoon and a partial lunar eclipse. The Moon appears bright white against the surrounding black sky, with wispy gray clouds passing across and around its surface. Credit: NASA/Jef Janis
