Mansour Barzani, the second son of Masoud Barzani and commander of the KDP’s Barzan and Gulan special forces, has met with Turkey's Defense Minister in Ankara.
This marks a new development, as it is the first time a Turkish Defense Minister has publicly received a Peshmerga commander, who happens to be another member of the Barzani family.
Notably, the Turkish Defense Ministry described Mansour as 'the commander of Peshmerga special forces,' though in reality he only commands KDP-affiliated units - specifically elite forces recruited from the Barzan region and surrounding villages, whose primary responsibility is safeguarding the Barzani family's interests.
The talks likely centered on PKK-related matters and potential Turkish military assistance, including training and technical support for KDP Peshmerga forces.
