Vision

Dublin aims to establish partnerships with communities based on the strategic targeting of certain population demographics, specifically underrepresented groups. In order to support the learning of these groups, Dublin Learning City (DLC) provides financial resourcing to community initiatives for underrepresented groups and is developing the Learning Neighbourhood Project in collaboration with local education networks (local, city and county levels). DLC supports the promotion of these initiatives through their website and social media platforms, and coordinators of each project sit on the DLC working group.

Policies, plan and implementation

Sustainability and health
Principles of sustainability have guided the DLC’s participation with partners, as reinforced by institutional mission statements. The Dublin Learning City Festival hosts events that integrate aspects of Green and Healthy Learning Cities. Dublin Learning City is aligned with Healthy Ireland, The National Framework for Improved Health and Well-being 2013-2025.
Equity and inclusion
Dublin’s Intercultural Ambassador Programme has created a network of intercultural ambassadors to facilitate integration through promoting intercultural dialogue and addressing related barriers. The city has also held an Integration and Inclusion Week to highlight the positive work carried out by Dublin City Council and other agencies to promote social inclusion, integration and diversity in the city.
Decent work and entrepreneurship
Dublin is committed to the Irish Government’s SME campaign to increase awareness of the range of government support available for start-ups and small businesses. The city is a low bureaucracy, low tax environment which gives start-ups located in Ireland easy access to quality staff, experienced entrepreneurs, investors, suppliers, research institutes and other services.
