Your TV is barely just a screen you turn on just to mindlessly browse through the flat channel catalog after work anymore. It’s a full-blown entertainment hub with various apps, streaming services, and even gaming platforms to manage. You can purchase streaming sticks or other devices to keep everything streamlined, but the smartest choice is to opt for a TV with a built-in interface that’s familiar, intuitive, and generally ready to go right out of the box.
Fire TV, Amazon’s contribution to the smart TV world, is one of those interfaces. And an Insignia Fire TV on sale at Amazon just caught our attention: you can land a 50-inch Class F50 Insignia smart Fire TV for 47% off right now. That’s less than $160 for a marvelous mid-sized screen!
At 50 inches across diagonally, this Insignia Fire TV is the perfect size for a smaller living room, apartment, or even a dorm room (just check with your roommate before you snatch up the limited wall real estate). It delivers a beautifully bright and crisp picture thanks to its 4K UHD resolution and HDR support, which makes both colors and contrast pop across every single frame. It’s no gaming TV with a run-of-the-mill 60Hz refresh rate, but it’s plenty of fluidity for your nightly Netflix marathon and Sunday night football schedule.
And because it’s a Fire TV, it’s preloaded with all your favorite streaming apps like Netflix, Prime Video, and more. So as long as you use the standard streaming services, you won’t have to do any tweaking the second after you turn it on for the first time. And because Amazon doesn’t make any devices isolated from its own systems, you can also use Alexa voice control for lightning-fast searches, smart home commands, and more. That’s pretty handy when you don’t want to look for the remote between the couch cushions.
It also has several HDMI ports and Apple AirPlay, which let you escape the Amazon ecosystem every so often if your media deviates from what’s offered in its digital walled garden. And since you can score it for only $159.99 instead of $299.99 right now, it’s a golden time to upgrade.
