Daniel Shapero shared thisJob applications are up, but honing on the right people with the right skills has never been harder. I'm excited to introduce Hiring Assistant 2... our newest version of the world's best AI recruiting product. Daniel Shapero shared thisThis is a version of unbundling, which happens all the time in markets and can be incredibly strategically disruptive… the most valuable components of a product are carved out and performed by a faster/cheaper/better solution. I think Ethan is right to call out this trend for certain jobs, which will shine a light on which parts of the job are truly valued (and paid for) by the market… because it’s not always what we think at face value. Are universities paying mathematicians for proofs or teaching?Daniel Shapero shared thisWhat you are seeing in math right now is a consequence of the jagged frontier, and a precursor of what is to come in other professions. Yes, mathematicians do math, but they also have other tasks they view as important (mentor students, maintain a scientific community, safeguard the future of a field, foster a love of math) that AI can't do At least one worry that mathematicians seem to have is that by focusing on the flashiest, most obvious element of what mathematicians do (make proofs), the AI companies are damaging the other tasks that AI can't do. AI can discover superhuman proofs, but that is not all that the math profession is about, and actually can undermine and reduce the attention to the other aspects of the job that are important to mathematicians. It becomes harder to defend the value of the many other tasks mathematicians do to the outside world if the most visible part is taken away. I suspect we will see more of this across fields and professions that will increasingly be forced to help people understand that their jobs consist not only the most visible tasks that AI can do, but also tasks that the AI cannot do or does badly.

Daniel Shapero shared thisFun chat with Benjamin Chipman at LinkedIn HQ about the questions GenZ has about networking but can be afraid to ask...Daniel Shapero shared thisGenZ in the workplace this, GenZ in the workplace that. LinkedIn saw that everyone had so much to say about how we as GenZ show up in the workplace that they invited me out to headquarters in Mountain View, CA to ask the questions to the man in charge-- CEO Daniel Shapero. Dan and I got to talk honestly about what’s happening with early career opportunities and how to create experiences for yourself in a changing work climate. We also talked about the elephant in the room… what AI means for professionals navigating their first jobs. The biggest takeaways I’m leaving with? 1️⃣ Be generous with your experience. ⏩ Share your learnings and what it took for you to get there. That doesn't have to mean posting if you’re not ready for that. Comment and engage to maintain your connections and celebrate wins alongside others. 2️⃣ ”Connectionmaxxing” (as the Gen Alphas are calling it) doesn’t do much for ya in terms of creating opportunity. Those 500+ connections should be people you’ve actually engaged with, not just strangers on the internet. ⏩ Cultivating meaningful relationships will always bring you more value than spray-and-pray connecting. 3️⃣ There are fewer entry level jobs, we’re not imagining that… but the data suggest it’s not necessarily AI’s fault. Interest rates are actually the more likely culprit. ⏩ Standing out obviously matters more than ever, but using AI to apply for more jobs isn’t the solution. What is working, is investing in the human relationships that undergird every employment decision. Can’t wait to share the full interview with you soon 😀 #LinkedInPartner #GenZintheWorkplace #Postgrad #EarlyCareer #GenZ

Daniel Shapero shared thisWe’ve been spending time listening to Gen Z about how they’re building professional relationships as they become more influential in the workplace. Most interesting to me was that despite growing up in a world where you build relationships on digital platforms, Gen Z don't find it easy to do this for work... which is something I want LinkedIn to improve on. I know that many of my own professional opportunities were shaped by relationships I'd invested in. Curious what advice you’d give someone early in their career who’s trying to build professional relationships?

Daniel Shapero shared thisWent down the rabbit hole on data centers in space... the crazy thing I didn't realize is that one of the hardest parts is going to be cooling the GPUs. But wait, isn't space cold?!? Yes, but in a vacuum there's no medium for absorbing the heat into the surrounding area... so you need to radiate it away. This article says that for a 100MW data center, you need 2500 pickleball court size radiators. That sounds like a lot. Super interesting. https://lnkd.in/gJEc2rCSWhy Orbital Data Centers Are Harder Than Silicon Valley ThinksWhy Orbital Data Centers Are Harder Than Silicon Valley Thinks

Daniel Shapero liked thisDaniel Shapero liked thisA few months after joining LinkedIn, I was struggling to adjust from entrepreneur to pm at a larger company. I went to Ryan’s office (a fast-rising exec at the time with this killer profile) and let him know it was best for everyone if I moved on. The next morning, I came into work and there was Ryan, sitting right next to me in our little shared cubicle. He told me he had decided to change desks. I learned more watching him in those next few months, and had more fun, than I ever have at work. And thanks to his act of kindness, I ended up not quitting. Ryan Roslansky, you’re a one of a kind leader and friend. Thank you for always setting the bar on doing well & doing good for each other.

Daniel Shapero liked thisDaniel Shapero liked thisIf you’re looking for a job, and you haven’t verified your profile on Linkedin yet, you could be missing out on opportunities… Shared the stage yesterday at LinkedIn’s #TalentConnectSummit with Aaron, Daniel (DTK!), and Tara talking about how important verification signals are across the hiring ecosystem for job seekers and recruiters. For job seekers, verifying your profile could mean 87% more profile views, and 19% more recruiter InMail outreach. And be sure to look for verification signals on the companies, people and jobs you interact with across our platform. Job seeking is tough, knowing if something or someone is real shouldn’t be. And the team isn’t stopping there. Newly launched Connected Apps go beyond verifying that you are who you say you are, and allow you to demonstrate that you know what you say you know. Check it out today! And s/o to my incredible marketing colleagues bringing these experiences to job seekers and all LinkedIn members 👏 Linh, Qasim, Alli, and Sohyung!

Daniel Shapero liked thisDaniel Shapero liked thisIf you’re not tuned into #TalentConnect…you’re missing out 👀 It’s been so great to spend time with talent leaders discussing how jobs, skills and businesses are changing. AI has a hand in this, but it’s not the whole story. Hiring is down 30% globally, but applications per applicant are up 30%, compared to pre-pandemic levels. AI has created nearly 2 million new jobs globally in just over three years (!), and the skills employers are looking for are changing twice as fast as the skills U.S. workers are adding to their profiles. (Add your AI skills to your profile folks!) Recruiters are feeling it! They’re at the center, making sure their companies have the skills and teams needed for what’s next. We’re excited to introduce Hiring Assistant 2 to help recruiters spend less time on the mechanics of hiring and more time on the decisions that need their judgement. There’s a lot more to come from #TalentConnect. Join the livestream now: https://lnkd.in/da7AVYP4

Daniel Shapero liked thisDaniel Shapero liked thisI moved into a global Sales role at LinkedIn at the start of this year, after many years leading across APAC. Even though I’ve worked in this region for many years, I’m always learning and adapting to the market dynamics. There are many differences — and similarities — across the region. I’ll give you a recent example. After Sales Connect India, where our audience is typically sales leaders, I noticed that CMO participation was noticeably higher this year than what I’ve seen elsewhere in the world. Could this be a sign that buying committees in India are larger or more complex? Our recent Trust Advantage research suggests so: 40% of organisations now report larger buying committees than a year ago. But APAC had the largest buying committees of all — Singapore #1, followed by India — about one-fifth larger than Europe or North America. This was just one event, but it highlighted to me just how much future growth depends on sales teams appreciating both global trends and regional nuance. Because convincing these growing buying committees is a mammoth job in today’s AI-saturated world. Sales and marketing don’t have the luxury of operating separately here — it’s going to take a village. My takeaway: the growth in buying committees may be happening unevenly across roles and markets, but they are growing, and it’s happening everywhere. What does this mean for sales organisations today? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

How To SaaS

Royalty-based growth capital gives founders another option beyond venture capital, bootstrapping or friends and family rounds. This structure is designed for high-margin B2B SaaS businesses that want flexibility, predictable repayments and no loss of ownership or control. Vik Thapar of Cypress Growth Capital explains how this model works best for revenue-generating companies with early product-market fit and can often be far more affordable than traditional equity financing if the business continues to grow. 🎙️ Tune into the Private Equity Value Creation Podcast: https://lnkd.in/gxkEsH3Z 👇🏽 Find Us Here https://lnkd.in/gTdPMk8P #privateequity #privateequitypodcast #privateequityvaluecreation

AI founders: ARR isn’t what it used to be. Fortune’s Allie Garfinkle explained that “vibe revenue" is distorting a trusted startup metric in Silicon Valley. As M13 Partner Anna Barber told Allie, “We did settle on these terms that everyone agreed on in the SaaS world. It was a lot harder to fudge… Today, we don’t know what things have to mean in the same way. So, there’s a lot of confusion and, maybe, obfuscation.” In our investment discussions, we remind ourselves: don’t get blinded by traction. At the early stage, revenue is more indicative than definitive. Especially in AI where pilot budgets abound, what we look for is early proof of customer love and a willingness to pay. In a recent post ("Blinded by Traction: Breaking down when revenue is signal vs. noise"), Anna and Whitney Hazard wrote, "You can't brute-force retention. If your product doesn't drive repeatable, sticky usage, no amount of sales muscle or top-of-funnel spending will save you. And when those big logos churn a year later, the house of cards collapses." For more from Anna and Whitney, links in comments.

🚨🚨 NEW EPISODE DROP!! 🚨🚨 EP. 117 - From Corporate Burnout to 20 SaaS Exits | Stuart Faught is now live. In this conversation, Stuart Faught breaks down a powerful lesson for founders, operators, and growth leaders: in the AI era, the moat is shifting away from just building software and toward distribution, niche market understanding, customer access, and operational simplicity. This episode explores how simple vertical SaaS businesses can become valuable, transferable assets—and why buying or building a small, focused software company may be a smarter path to entrepreneurship than starting from zero. One standout idea: great businesses are not only built for growth, but for clarity, transferability, and customer relevance. That has real implications for leadership, business growth, and customer experience. As Stuart puts it: “I need to own the asset and I’m sick of working for the guys that own the asset.” Watch the full episode: https://lnkd.in/eKqj7PJW Read the article: https://lnkd.in/eQi_Rv-q #SaaS #Entrepreneurship #Leadership #BusinessGrowth #CustomerExperience #VerticalSaaS

The fastest way to lose a year of growth? Hire the right GTM leader at the wrong time. Across investor-backed businesses, one pattern consistently stands out: GTM leaders rarely fail because they lack ability. They fail because they were hired for a stage they were never built for. The good news is that this challenge is solvable, and the impact of getting it right is transformational for value creation. Recently, Renovata and ZEREN brought together three senior experts who sit at the centre of commercial leadership hiring across PE portfolios: 🔹 Lucy Brealy Partner, Renovata 🔹 Alan Fecamp Partner, Renovata 🔹 Harry Lewis Managing Director, ZEREN Together, they unpacked the real foundations of effective GTM leadership hiring for PE-backed organisations. Kurt challenges the mainstream playbook with sharp insight into why most CMOs aren’t actually marketers, how obsession with attribution is damaging businesses, and why the real differentiator is trust, not clicks. From dismantling the myth of PPC-fueled growth to showing how brands win by building long-term category authority, Kurt shares hard-won lessons from the trenches of B2B SaaS and services. 📺YouTube: https://lnkd.in/dBzQUjVh 🍎 Apple Podcast: https://lnkd.in/d-gCXRb3 🎧Spotify: https://lnkd.in/d-6BmqB2 🔗Everywhere else: https://lnkd.in/e65Z2R3p 📖 Blog: https://lnkd.in/d6yWumXa

A new wave of founders is changing how companies are built—and how growth equity will evolve with them. As Steve Achatz, Principal at Volition Capital highlights in Fast Company, today’s breakout startups share common DNA: discipline, velocity, and a mindset geared toward automating themselves out of a job. Solo founders and lean teams are reaching traditional Series A and B milestones with a fraction of the headcount and spend. With AI, no-code tools, and stronger founder communities, meaningful scale is now possible without the playbook of the past decade. This shift has major implications for investors and operators alike—and we believe it will accelerate exit timelines within #GrowthEquity. Smart, focused, #CapitalEfficient founders are the new norm. And we’re excited for what that means for the next generation of breakout companies. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/eRakGFXZ

The role of a VC Talent Partner has changed. Matt Stephenson, Head of Tech Talent at BCV, shares with Nolan Church what it really takes to support founders in today’s market on the latest 10x Recruiting episode from Metaview: • The best recruiters in VC don’t just teach people how to fish—they recruit, close, and repeat. • When sourcing isn’t landing, the issue usually isn’t tooling. It’s trust. You have to earn the right to a candidate’s time. • And in this market, long-term relationships matter more than one-time experiences.
