Sara’s code helps YouTube videos translate in more languages. As a Software Engineer on the YouTube Languages team, she works on dubbing and captions that make millions of videos accessible to more people around the world. Sara’s interest in this work traces back to her first experience with computer science. In high school, she joined a Girls Who Code summer program and discovered that coding could be a way to improve people’s lives. She went on to study computer science at Yale, interned at Google twice and returned full-time after graduation. Five years into her Google career, Sara still gets a thrill from meeting people who use features she helped build, from Multiview on YouTube TV to lip sync dubbing on YouTube. Her biggest surprise since graduating? “You will never stop learning!” Explore opportunities to make an impact like Sara → https://goo.gle/3Ebyc8z

Our TPUs just phoned home... from space. ICYMI, on October 1, we sent four TPUs into orbit to test whether our AI hardware could operate in space. The initial goal was to see if our chips could turn on, process a prompt, and transmit a response back to Earth. This week, we got our answer. ✨ This milestone brings us one step closer to understanding if space-based compute is possible. We’re sending two more TPU-equipped satellites to orbit in 2027 for our next milestone. Watch this space 👀 and learn more about the first milestone of our long-term moonshot with Project Suncatcher ↓

Nine years into his career as a software engineer, Jon started tinkering with AI on the side, just for fun. That side project turned into a whole new career. Jon spent almost a decade on Android System UI, building the interface features billions of people touch every day — like the app opening and closing animations on your phone. But when his AI experiments started to feel like more than a hobby, Jon transitioned into a brand new role: Creative Technologist on Search, sitting at the intersection of design, prototyping, and engineering. "It's been an inspiring reminder that even after nine years in one place, following your curiosity can lead to a new exciting chapter," he explains. Looking to build your own path at Google like Jon? How do you turn a passion for coding into software that helps millions of people live healthier lives? For Mara, a computer science student from Romania, it starts with a clear purpose: "I’m deeply passionate about technology and confident in its potential to drive meaningful, positive change in the world,” she says. This summer, Mara worked as a Software Engineering Intern on the Google Health team, where she found the chance to grow her engineering skills on a global scale. She worked on backend infrastructure — the behind-the-scenes systems that organize and process data — to power personalized fitness tools that make daily health tracking interactive and rewarding. Today, Grow with Google is launching the Google AI for Healthcare Professionals Certificate, a new program designed to teach doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals new skills to lighten the administrative load so time and care stays focused on patients. The self-paced program can be completed in less than five hours and focuses on non-clinical administrative tasks, helps build foundational literacy, and offers up to 5.0 CME credits. Healthcare organizations are already putting the training into practice. NYU Grossman School of Medicine, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Touro University are offering it to their faculty, residents, and medical students. Additionally, leading nursing institutions, including Purdue University School of Nursing, are offering the certificate as part of their healthcare professional training. Today we’re introducing Gemini 4 Carbon — our newest frontier model from Google DeepMind. Building on the Gemini 4 Argon model launched two weeks ago, Carbon illustrates the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier forward. Carbon is our strongest model with state-of-the-art cybersecurity and long horizon capabilities. Built for sustained agentic workflows, it delivers improved performance across domains — with greater alignment, transparency, and follow-through to respond to high-pressure tasks. Internally, our teams have seen Carbon run for days to push past dead ends and fix subtle bugs across large codebases. These improvements translate to everyday work: 🔵 Stronger cyber defense: It achieves state-of-the-art cybersecurity performance across vulnerability detection, validation, and remediation — so defenders can stay ahead of threats. 🔵 Improved collaboration when things are unclear: Instead of guessing or cutting corners around missing info, Carbon flags discrepancies up front and asks before acting. 🔵 Following through without overstepping: Carries out multi-step plans from start to finish while staying in scope and respecting project boundaries. We’re rolling it out starting this week to cyber defenders through our Fairwind Program, with expanded access coming soon. Learn more → goo.gle/3W8tG3P

Today we're introducing Genie 4 from Google DeepMind 🌐 Unlike a standard video generator that only plays a clip, Genie 4 incorporates and builds on the Gemini family to generate living simulations with real-world appearance and behavior. With Genie 4, you can now step inside an environment, set an event in motion, and watch how the world responds in real time. Gemini works behind the scenes to keep multi-step events more coherent, complete with lifelike physics, natural human movement, native audio, and interactive dialogue. Beyond creative storytelling and game prototyping, these virtual worlds have real-world potential to give researchers, robots, and AI agents a playground to practice tasks and learn how physical spaces work before helping out in the real world. We're started testing Genie 4 in research preview with early partners, ahead of bringing it to Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and developers via the Gemini API and AI Studio soon. When millions of YouTube creators need help, Mike is often the reason they get it fast. As a lead on YouTube's creator support team, he makes sure that when a new feature launches, the people and AI systems helping creators actually know how it works. "People hear 'support' and incorrectly think of a narrow, reactive role," he says. "My day can shift instantly from deep analytical work to high-visibility storytelling for leadership." That mix of data and everyday problem-solving shows up in how Mike solves problems, too. Creator feedback used to be scattered across half a dozen channels — but Mike built a system that pulled it all together and used AI to surface the patterns. This project "turned thousands of scattered signal points into clear, actionable trends that our product and go-to-market teams could immediately act on."
