In my old post OneNote to Obsidian With Graph Api I outlined the code and technology to do a OneNote to markdown migration.

Now, in time for digital sovereignty, I am creating a new post targeted at non-IT users. I really hope that the guide is simple enough to follow.

Warning: We have to use the command line, albeit very shortly. The screenshots in this article should help you

What do I need?

1. Notebook or desktop with Linux, Windows or macOS
   1. On a corporate device? Your IT might block the code or even the sign-in to the migration app. Try it nevertheless!
2. Cloud-backed OneNote notebook
Not sure if yours are in the cloud? Sign-in to https://onenote.cloud.microsoft with your Microsoft 365 account and observe a list of notebooks!

Hint: This code is not for old onepkg files. Store them in OneDrive if you have an account. Otherwise this may help: https://github.com/alxnbl/onenote-md-exporter

Today we have a DevOps topic that deserves a bit more attention. Azure DevOps has allowed you for years to create VM Scale Set backed elastic pools. These pools allow customers to integrate into their own infrastructure better. For a while now, these Pools are also offered as a PaaS offering Managed DevOps Pool (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/devops/managed-devops-pools/?view=azure-devops).

In this post, we’ll look at how to create a pool with Terraform and how to use custom images in your pool.

Due to a number of related events (My entire OneDrive content was placed in the recycling bin twice by an app, losing my OneNote sharing settings each time) I once again got the notion to replace OneNote with something open and non-proprietary. Since I was using Obsidian for my personal knowledge management and note taking for a while now, markdown was going to be that format.

A short internet search netted no serious results apart from some fiddling around with pandoc, exported notebooks and a lot of manual interaction. Not very useful. What I would have wanted was something using the Graph API (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/graph/overview).
