Welp, looks like I won't have space for Midnight Suns until after Atomic Hearts at the earliest.

Callisto to Forspoken to Atomic Hearts with some Cyberpunk and now Witcher 3 in the gaps (On top of some Overwatch 2).

Then there's also the matter of Starfield and Diablo 4, which are the 2 most important must haves of the generation for me...
December 14th on will be all about TWIII for me, til Valheim, Starfield and or Diablo IV drop.

I never played the DLC for TW3. Can I just start the DLC with a reasonably leveled character, or would I have to level up a character in the main game? I don’t have a save file for TW3 so I no longer have an endgame character.

It was mentioned a while ago when Netflix came out with season 2 I think. Ever since then I haven’t heard anything anymore. It was supposed to come out in an update.

Confirmation this modder has definitely added their retexturing to the update among other rework:
  • HalkHoganPL’s HDReworked project is one of the mods confirmed to be a part of the console version
  • Fall damage has been tweaked
  • Post-processing effects like fire have been improved
  • Fog has been added to the game
  • Photo mode support is confirmed for PS5 and Xbox Series S|X
  • Cutscenes that were pre-rendered will now run in real-time
  • The enemy scaling option has been fixed
  • New armor has been added to the game, some of which was missing from the original release, and others from the Netflix release
  • Ray-tracing support is confirmed for PC and current-generation consoles
  • The game still runs on the RED Engine

The textures look pretty nice, but the animations looks like a PS2 game. I guess I never realized the original version looked that bad.

Tried it a bit this morning, albeit on PC. Looks good, but the PC exclusive Ultra+ settings to everything and the inclusion of extra ray tracing features over the console versions are absolute system killers!

I averaged around 26-40 fps in Beauclair and the immediate surroundings on a 3070. Sure looks pretty though!

And I encourage people to try out the photo mode while travelling in a boat:

Though this might also be a problem with Nvidia Hairworks which I'm not sure is on the consoles or not.

The one feature I was hoping for:

I spent far too much time on the PS4 version, pausing the game, scrolling to options, dropping the hud, taking a screenshot, pause the game, scroll to options, turning the hud back on and unpausing, just to take a pic.

I’ll never understand some developers when they don’t include a PM for their game.

Logged into very briefly to check if my GoTY edition was updated and it was thankfully. Now to find time and play this gem.

Sadly it's missing the most important feature of any photo mode: Poses and facial expressions.

Gonna download this today. Interested to get back in. I played through and beat the game around the time it came out, but really haven't revisited it since.

For some reason, my TW3 save files disappeared years ago. I'll probably start a base game save file, but at a certain point I may just start a DLC run since I think you can do that from the main menu. I never played the DLC but always heard it was great.

I haven't read much about new accessibility features, but I hope there's a setting that lets you increase the text size in the menus (they may have added this in previous versions, not sure). I remember during my 2015 playthrough the text being so tiny, which was annoying in a game so menu-heavy that places emphasis on deep reading of the menus and systems.

Lots of games have tiny text, although I think this is improving with options to increase the size. I know when I started GOWR I increased the text to max size immediately.

  • Added the option to scale the font size for subtitles, NPC chatter and dialogue choices. You can find it in Options → Video → HUD Configuration.

I'll probably use that but I'm more focused on the menus. Like consider some of the finer details of the inventory screenshot below, particularly the info under the crossbow, like the required level, etc. This stuff was kinda hard to parse during my first run, although my TV back then wasn't that great.

Gotta say so far this is one of the best looking PS5 revamps that I’ve seen. The level of detail, the faces, the lighting, the foliage, the NPC activity — it all looks terrific. Geralt in particular looks so much better. This kinda feels like a first time play for me, although some things are coming back to me. I still need to get into the rhythm of the combat.

Dunno, man…. font seems to be legible for me. Hold down your left stick for description size:

And it’s a permanent option once you close out of a screen and into a new one until you switch it off. Which is nice.

jumped back in the other night, was surprised to see i had 16 ability points available

took me a moment to finally realize they reduced the number of times you can upgrade a stat/power

used to be 5 times, but its only 3 now.

Managed four hours with this Friday night, and I’m down to sink into this:

I forgot how immersive this game was or I have a better appreciation for it now, dunno, but this game is a familiar welcome change.

I'm hoping the same applies to me when I start it back up.

I don't remember the game being that gorgeous, so that may help keep me hooked...

Wait til it storms. I remember my first run doing that quest in White Orchard looking for dudes brother in that battlefield during the daytime. This time it was at night and during a storm. Big difference in mood of course.

Even the track that played during was delightfully gloomy.

Loving the updated game so far. I decide md since I had already gotten pretty far into the game the first time around to go on a easier mode than normal just to keep from getting bogged down and not being able to get very far before new games start coming out. At first I tried the mode right below normal but found it was still challenging at times especially when fighting groups so I went down to just the story mode. Wasn't sure what that meant but I found it to be just right for what I want for a rerun. Still has combat but not as challenging with groups. I wish it made it so your weapons and armor didn't degrade. I wish they would have added more accessability settings for stuff like that. Personally I prefer games where you have accessability settings where you can tweak certain things like that without lowering difficulty. Obviously it makes the game easier just like a difficulty setting but it's actually different. It customizes the game to how you want to play it. I don't automatically choose to lower every setting, just to be ones that make it the most fun.

I've noticed some issues while playing. Some left over from before. Things just .moving around that aren't supposed to be. One issue I hate and I thought it might be fixed is how sometimes when you start a fight, character doesn't automatically draw his weapon and when you hit the buttons to draw the weapon it still doesn't work. Seems like it should be an easy fix but apparently after 7 years or so they still can't.

Isn't that an option you have to turn on? Auto-equip weapons?
