Former Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd has settled on his next gig, as he is preparing to join ESPN as a studio analyst, Marc Stein of The Stein Line reports (via Twitter). Stein says the two sides are in “advanced talks.”

Kidd, who was the Mavs’ head coach for the past five seasons before being let go this summer, will be part of ESPN’s pregame and halftime program, Andrew Marchand and Dan Shanoff report for The Athletic. He’ll fill the “former head coach” role vacated by Michael Malone when the former Nuggets coach was hired by UNC.

After a Hall of Fame playing career as a point guard, Kidd has been a head coach for 10 of the last 12 seasons. He started his coaching career with the Nets before leaving after one season to join the Bucks, with whom he stayed for four years. He then served as an assistant coach for the Lakers before moving to Dallas, where he helped lead the team to an NBA Finals berth in 2024.

Kidd holds a career win-loss record of 388-395.
