Filmfare Awards Marathi 2026

The Filmfare Awards Marathi is the dedicated Marathi-language edition of India's Filmfare Awards, presented by Filmfare (Worldwide Media, The Times Group) to honour excellence in Marathi cinema, from performances and direction to music and technical craft. Having just marked a decade of celebrating Marathi cinema, the ceremony has grown into one of the most closely watched nights on the industry's calendar. The 2026 edition returns on August 6, 2026, at Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai, carrying that legacy forward.

The ceremony is set for August 6, 2026.

Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai will host the 2026 ceremony, the same venue as last year's edition.

Keeping in line with Filmfare's established eligibility window, the 2026 edition will honour Marathi films released between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Final eligibility criteria will be confirmed once the nomination process opens.

The Marathi awards mirror the structure of Filmfare's other ceremonies: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) and Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) and Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female), Best Music Album, Best Lyricist, Best Playback Singer (Male and Female), Best Debut (Male & Female) categories for new directors and actors, plus a parallel set of Critics' Awards for Best Film, Best Actor (Male & Female) and technical categories like Best Story, Best Dialogue, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Background Score and Best Editing.

As with other Filmfare ceremonies, major categories are decided through a combination of jury deliberation and reader/audience voting, while the Critics' Awards are selected by a panel of film industry professionals on the jury. Voting typically opens once nominations are announced.

Nominations haven't been announced yet. Once released ahead of the August 6 ceremony, the full list including Best Film, Best Director, and the acting categories will be published on filmfare.com.

An exact date hasn't been confirmed, viewers can expect the announcement in the weeks leading up to the August 6 ceremony.

The full winners' list will be published on filmfare.com as soon as the ceremony concludes. Information and updates will also be shared on Filmfare's official pages on Instagram, Facebook, X as well as other social media platforms.

filmfare.com will carry live updates through the evening, alongside Filmfare's social media channels.

Red carpet photos, videos, and highlight reels will be published on filmfare.com's photo and video galleries after the event. Live updates will be shared on Filmfare's official social media pages as well.

Ongoing coverage with nomination updates, campaign-trail stories, and analysis will be published on filmfare.com's awards and Marathi cinema sections.

The ceremony is organised by Filmfare, published by Worldwide Media (part of The Times Group). Each edition has also carried a title partner though the presenting sponsor can change from year to year.

Archives for past editions, including full nomination and winners' lists, are available on filmfare.com's awards section.

The Filmfare Awards Marathi carries the weight of the larger Filmfare legacy, a brand that has recognised excellence in Indian cinema since 1954, while being built specifically to celebrate Marathi storytelling on its own terms. Over the past decade, it has become a genuine industry benchmark, giving craft categories like music and writing the same spotlight as the marquee acting and directing awards.
