The following is an example of what you might see when this insight is triggered. Real insights use live data and links from your deployment or cluster.
The cluster license (Platinum) expires on 2026-03-15, with 14 days remaining. The expiry date is within the configured warning threshold.
AutoOps shows different recommendations depending on how their conditions match your deployment or cluster.
License renewal
Condition: Shown when this insight is active.
Install a renewed license using Kibana License Management or the Elasticsearch update license API (PUT /_license). The update takes effect without restarting nodes. If you do not have a license file, contact Elastic to renew or obtain a replacement. See the Manage your license guide for step-by-step instructions.
Gold, Platinum, Enterprise, and trial licenses have a fixed expiry date. When a license expires, Elasticsearch reverts to Basic, and paid features (security, monitoring, alerting, and others) stop working until a valid license is installed.
Elasticsearch logs warnings starting 30 days before expiry. This insight surfaces the same signal in AutoOps for Cloud Connected self-managed clusters, giving you a consolidated view alongside your other cluster health signals.
