Harold King was a Major League Baseball player with the Houston Astros (1967-1968), Atlanta Braves (1970-1971), Texas Rangers (1972), and Cincinnati Reds (1973-1974). Hal, his nickname, played with the Indianapolis Clowns (Negro Leagues) prior to making it to the majors, and when he did on September 6, 1967, he became the first Oviedo High School graduate to play in the big leagues.

The first Texas Rangers game took place on April 15, 1972, at Anaheim Stadium, a 0-1 loss to the California Angels. Around the horn that historic day in Rangers' history was; Dick Bosman (SP), Hal King (C), Don Mincher (1B), Lenny Randle (2B), Dave Nelson (3B), Toby Harrah (SS), Frank Howard (LF), Joe Lovitto (CF), and Larry Biittner (RF).
