Ismail Darbar wants to serve the people of Surat
Elina Priyadarshini Nayak | TNN | Jul 2, 2011, 12.49 PM IST Music composer Ismail Darbar, who was in news after he revealed his plan to join politics, has finally inducted into BJP at a recent press conference in Ahmedabad.
The composer who is likely to fight the next Gujarat assembly elections from Surat, his native place, says, "My only aim to join politics is to serve the people of Gujarat because it was my mother's last wish. She had told me once that you have done well in life and now you should serve the people of Surat. I always feel guilty that I couldn't do anything for my parents when they were alive. So, now I wish to fulfil their dreams before I die." Ismail, who had first met BJP president Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur and expressed his willingness to join the party, and then also called on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi last month, adds, "My meeting with Modi before I was officially inducted into the party, was for almost an hour. I cannot express how impressed I am with this man. He gave me respect and asked me what exactly I wish to do. A powerful man is needed to serve my birthplace and I think Modi is the one. Under his able leadership Gujarat has developed and I wish the entire country develops in the same way."
