New traffic in test phase for eight months Read more

09/04/2015

From 29 June 2015, the test phase for the new traffic starts. A collaboration between the city of Brussels and the Brussels Capital region. Because it is 100 years since the whole city was so radically changed, it is - despite extensive studies - hard to predict how people will adapt to the new situation. Study and practice may differ. Therefore, an 8-month test phase is needed. The new circulation plan includes incoming and outgoing rings and also a local ring. This local ring creates space for the pedestrian zone and makes it accessible. The local ring ensures that local traffic between the districts remains possible. The ring leads the local traffic to public car parks and also turns away the transit traffic between the North and the South of the city.
