Quick Start
Vide is a fully open-source modern SystemVerilog coding IDE developed by the PASCAL Research Group at Nanjing University, designed to make hardware design feel as fluid as software development. Vide brings more than a dozen code analysis capabilities that traditional hardware IDEs often lack, such as Go to Definition, Annotations, Precise Completion, and Automatic Refactoring. With Vide, hardware developers can understand, write, and maintain Verilog/SystemVerilog code more efficiently.

Section titled “Start Here”If you only want to get a feel for the core features, open the Online Experience and try them without configuration. If you want to use Vide in your own project, we recommend starting with VS Code Installation because installing the extension gives you one-step installation and startup of the Vide language server, with the most complete and straightforward experience. If you use Neovim or Emacs, read Neovim Installation or Emacs Installation.
Vide’s core is a language server that implements the Language Server Protocol (LSP), so it can in principle be adapted to more LSP-capable editors. We will expand support for more editors over time based on user needs.
