01Features

One palette for the things you do all day.

Most features are off until you turn them on, so Tinycast only runs what you use.

03Privacy

Off until you turn it on.

A new install has the launcher, the calculator and clipboard history. Everything else stays off until you enable it, and nothing needs an account.

  • Off by defaultAIThe chat command and its history file don't exist until you turn AI on.
  • Off by defaultExtensionsWhile off, no extension folder is read and no JavaScript engine runs.
  • Off by defaultSnippetsThe only feature that reads what you type. Matching happens on your Mac.
  • Off by defaultCalendarTells you what it reads before macOS asks for access. Events stay on your Mac.
  • On by defaultClipboard historyStored on your Mac for 3 months. Ignores copies from Keychain Access and Passwords.

Tinycast asks for a permission only when a feature first needs it, never at launch. Restoring a settings backup can't turn on extensions or snippets.

04Keyboard

Built for the keyboard.

Choose one shortcut to open the palette. Everything else has a key, and shortcuts follow key position, so they work with any keyboard layout.

⌥ Space
Open the palette (you choose the keys)
return
Run the main action
⌘ return
Run the second action
⌘ K
Open the actions menu
tab
Switch between launcher, AI Chat and clipboard
⌘ 1…0
Open favorite 1 to 10
esc
Clear the search, go back, or close
⌘ esc
Back to the root search from anywhere

Every other key, one table per screen, is in Keyboard shortcuts.

05Moving over

Bring your Raycast setup.

Tinycast reads Raycast's .rayconfig export. Choose the file, enter its passphrase, and your shortcuts, favorites and snippets come with it.

  1. Export from Raycast

Export your settings and data, and keep the passphrase you set.

  2. Open Settings → Backup

Choose the file and enter the passphrase. If the passphrase is wrong, Tinycast says so.

  3. Choose what to import

Import everything, or only the parts you want.

  4. Quit and reopen Tinycast

Quit from the menu bar icon, because closing Settings isn't enough. Everything is in place after the restart.

Tinycast's Backup settings pane with a Raycast export selected and a list of categories to import.

Raycast v2.0 and newer only. Tinycast reads .rayconfig files from Raycast v2.0 and later. Support for Raycast v1.x files was removed in Tinycast v0.10.5.

Comes across: Shortcuts · Favorites · Clipboard history · Snippets · Quicklinks · Aliases · Emoji skin tone · Compact mode · Pop to root · Launch at login · Menu-bar preference. Read the import guide

“No account. No telemetry. No bullshit.”

the whole privacy policy, more or less

Native

Written in Swift 6 with SwiftUI and AppKit, and no third-party dependencies. It opens fast and stays under 100 MB of memory.

Local

Your clipboard, notes and snippets are stored on your Mac. AI stays off until you turn it on and pick a provider.

Open source

The full source is on GitHub under AGPL-3.0, and you can build it yourself. The scope stays narrow so the app stays small.

Free

Every feature is free, and there is no Pro tier. Optional tips pay the running costs.

Enjoying Tinycast?

Tinycast is free and open source, and it will stay that way. If you'd like to support its development, you can contribute. It's optional.
