In April, Mayor Dominick Pangallo filed a property tax relief package with the City Council to broaden the City’s current programs and continue working for a more affordable Salem. The measure established a new Taxpayer Aid Fund to provide direct financial assistance to seniors and residents with disabilities when it comes to their property tax bills. Per state law, the Taxpayer Relief Committee oversees the fund and distributes the financial relief to qualifying residents each year. Up to three residents will be appointed to the new Committee.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Applications received after the three seats have been filled will be retained by the Mayor's Office in the event of future vacancies on the Committee.

¡La ciudad de Salem busca a tres residentes para formar parte del recién creado Comité de Asistencia al Proprietario!
En abril, el alcalde Dominick Pangallo presentó ante el Concejo Municipal una variedad de opciones de asistencia con impuestos propietarios en adición de los programas que ya existen para seguir asegurando que Salem sea más asequible. La medida estableció un nuevo Fondo de Asistencia al Contribuyente para brindar asistencia financiera a personas mayores y residentes con discapacidades. Según la ley estatal, el Comité de Asistencia para los Contribuyentes supervisa el fondo y distribuye el dinero a los residentes que cumplen con los requisitos cada año. Se nombrará un máximo de tres residentes para crear este nuevo comité.
