DPS continues with snow plowing and snow removal throughout the day and night. Larger-scale snow removal took place Tuesday and Wednesday night on Washington Street, New Derby Street, Derby Street, Essex Street, Powder House Lane, Hawthorne Boulevard, New Liberty Street, Central Street, and parts of Essex Street and Lafayette Street.

Work is scheduled to take place overnight tonight, Thursday February 26th, on all or parts of Brown Street, St. Peter Street, Church Street, Front Street, Charter Street, Union Street, Herbert Street, Orange Street, Daniels Street, Bentley Street, Kosciusko Street, Hardy Street, Turner Street, Carlton Street, Becket Street, English Street, Webb Street, Allen Street, Cousins Street, Jackson Street, Broad Street, Bridge Street, Boston Street, and Hamilton Street. Smaller snow removal work will also take place in the vicinity of 2 Wheatland Street and 200 Canal Street to address water issues in both locations.

Your patience as ongoing overnight snow removal operations continue is greatly appreciated as this work is carried out.

To report a roadway in need of attention, please email snow@salem.com. Parking continues to be temporarily restricted on some streets to allow vehicles, including emergency vehicles, passage: https://www.salemma.gov/m/newsflash/home/detail/296. This list is updated by Salem Police as conditions change. Please note that any vehicle parked in a manner that obstructs traffic will be towed, regardless of parking restrictions. Do not park in a way that blocks traffic.

Residents who live on streets with restricted parking may park on nearby streets that are not restricted or for no charge in either the Universal Steel lot (297 Bridge Street, Salem) or in the Church Street lot (72 Church Street, Salem).

There continues to be a one day delay for curbside trash and recycling pickup this week. Please put bins as close as possible to the curb one day after your normal pickup day. Call 866-436-3885 to report any missed pickups. Black Earth curbside compost pickups in Salem are continuing on schedule this week.

The Dominican flag raising event scheuled for Friday, February 27th, at 4pm in Lafayette Park is taking place as scheduled.

As a reminder, property owners are required by ordinance to clear snow from adjacent sidewalks and crosswalk ramps. Inspectors are enforcing this ordinance. To avoid a ticket – and prevent pedestrians, including school children from having to walk in the street – please clear your sidewalk of snow.

We very much appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue recovery from the recent blizzard.
