Mayor Dominick Pangallo released the latest episode of his podcast, Salem Compass, aimed at highlighting interesting Salem related topics in a deeper and more engaging format.  The podcast features in-depth conversations on city initiatives, interviews with community leaders, updates on local issues, and spotlights on topics of interest. New episodes will be released regularly and will be available on all major podcast platforms including Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music.

The eighth episode features a conversation between Mayor Pangallo and Salem's first ever Poet Laureate, J.D. Scrimgeour, sharing in detail what the role of a Poet Laureate entails, how J.D. is approaching the responsibility, how community members can engage with poetry and prose ahead of the Salem 400+ (even first timers have an opportunity to have their thoughts and work published!).  J.D. reads a moving original piece honoring a member of the Salem community - be sure to listen in to hear it in his own voice!

Community members should plan to tune in to future episodes planned on topics such as the arts in the city, what goes into planning and community development in the City of Salem, our public services, preparing for Salem's busiest times of the year, and so much more! Listeners are encouraged to submit questions and podcast topic suggestions by emailing mayor@salem.com.

Issues of the companion Salem Compass digital newsletter, in its third year of production, can continue to be found on the City of Salem website.  Readers can subscribe to receive newsletter issues via email.
