Personal, unprofessional opinion: it plays a huge role, when it comes to a possible sentencing. Judges value factors such as intent and remorse, to adjust the sentences. However, it has to come to a case first and for that, something legally questionable has to happen. We are at the stage, where it is probably only morally questionable, but not legally.

There are actions that are illegal. Recordings of those actions is illegal. Generated material counts as art. Also movies count as art. If those show an illegal action, it is not illegal. It is art. And should be protected, whether you like it or not. Same category as freedom of speech.

And it is so fun to be fully dependent on one company, to just wait until they hopefully fix things again. But I am glad yoi are happy with the “success” of Windows, while ignoring the fact that it is preinstalled on pretty much any machine. As a former software engineer, I understand that there are reasons for and reasons against the use of LLM. I can also see that open source projects can get easily overwhelmed by the amount of garbage that gets produced by non-developers. But does it really have to end in prohibiting technology in a technological project? How much politics should affect technology? And where do we draw the line?
Those are novel problems and it will take time until we figure out how to properly handle them. Looking at the past, prohibitions rarely work without proper enforcements. Usually everybody loses in that case.
Absolutely. I was only talking about the legal aspect. The morality is absolutely questionable. Besides that, it is probably very distasteful as well.
