I mostly check if my SIL is watching anything before rebooting & updating. Otherwise my wife will stick her head in two minutes later to ask if jellyfin is down.

I’m sure Seth Gruber will personally adopt all the unwanted children that he feels so strongly for. Right?

Why don’t they just pull an Andrew? Like “The pedophile formerly known as prince”.
“The gulf formerly known as the Gulf of Mexico”. Can’t fault them for that.

I have my hermes agent run xvnc with chrome & playwright to navigate old.reddit.com with an old throwaway account. It has created a little script to reduce the DOM to an LLM-friendly size.
It also digests the consensus of the comments in the top posts.
My provider has a shared CGI script that added the post at a special tag in your HTML file.
…and because of poor permission handling everyone just had write permissions to these files for anyone to edit.
That’s a lot of cars. Did he bring the Epstein files?

I have the memory of a goldfish with poor memory. I can’t recall any other big breaks in the last 20. I’m sure there’s been some since, but trivial enough to fix and forget about.

It happened once in the last ten years (thanks Nvidia). But I just rolled back to my previous btrfs snapshot and kept on computing until it was fixed a day or two later.
But forced breaking updates the first Tuesday of every month sounds like a really bad user experience.
Things were different back in the 90s before loadable kernel modules. Online updates weren’t much of a thing, either. You’d just install that new slackware release over your old root partition anyway.

I’ve been living in Linux-land for the last 30 years, and I’ve never really believed my wife when she says that updates just break things and tries to avoid them to no end.
Why does Microsoft do that? It seems like it would be bad for business.

Never did, never had s problem telling which is which. It’s just spatial awareness to me.
We did a lot of orienteering at school, and for sports. Maybe that helped.

Let me guess. They’re going to replace Jeeps with cyberdumptrucks.
I hope they come with Iranian power adapters for charging.

Muscle memory. It took me about a year to retrain how to open a new tab on Firefox for Android last time they moved things around for no good reason.

I’ve always used supersaver.fi, mostly because I had a local (to me) company to hold responsible if a leg of my flight got cancelled or something.
Skyscanner is probably more popular.

Plot twist: Buzz and Woody were not originally Andy’s toys in the script.

I drink two mugs of black coffee every morning.
They claim emulation is illegal… yet they run snes9x on their display case in New York.

Best in the United States? That’s like being the biggest fish in the bowl.

Thanks for the reminder. I just wiped 110 contacts.
Three had passed away. Many were colleagues from over 20 years ago. A lot were army buddies from over 25 years ago. Some ex-partners of friends. Too many fast-food places from cities I haven’t lived in in forever.
They existed at 4x the price.
I think raspberry pi really shone on the software side of things. ARM boards often tend to be a bit of ship-and-forget. RaspberryPi OS still supports the OG 14 years later, while most other distros have left 32 bit support in the dust.
