All hail Cave Catto!
I have 1700+ hours on this game and somehow I’m not excited about this… Anyone feel the same? Why?
For me it’s the lack of details. “New stuff” could be “new crap” or “new slog”. Sure, it’s probably going to be great with their track record, but I can’t get excited by nothing.
Idk, seems pretty exciting to me! Maybe you’re just in a bit of a burn-out period?
It’s ok to do something else for a while and come back later. No Man’s Sky is one of those games. Every time you come back after a break, there’s cool new stuff to try.
4000+ hours myself, and I’m excited! But I agree with the other commenter, I’d be less excited if I was mid-factory. Maybe take it as a hint on taking a break before your next factory. When you start doodling out factory designs again you know it is time again.
Typically I take about a year off between factories, and after my last one two years, which makes the dlc exciting to me
Maybe because you have 1700+ hours in the game hehe
I’ve made it to the last phase, and stopped because of the realisation of how much work it is to finish that . One day. Maybe.
But
I am excited for this. Bring it.
I find that once you complete the final pieces once, then next time is easier, think I’ve “beaten” this game four/five times now.
I’ve given up on nuclear twice under similar circumstances…so daunting
But so much power!
True but damn is it a lot of work. Or maybe it’s less about the total work required and more like…the minimum work required.
A half-assed refinery will work fine, bottlenecks don’t really matter (aside from possibly cutting power) and any waste can be AWESOME Sinked. But with nuclear, you need efficiency and a waste plan.
This isn’t a criticism, by the way. I think the complication is very fair. The only thing i can think of that might make it less painful is having alternative uses for some of the single-purpose machines in the chain…not that I have any ideas of what else to use a particle accelerator for…
Oh for sure, that’s why it’s late game! It’s testing all of your skills that you picked up, and trust me after 5-6 factories I only now feel like I’m confident in knowing how to set it up. I remember I always wait for the alternate though that does not have sulfuric acid as waste, use the one that give sulfur as waste. Not having that liquid byproduct 100000% makes it better to work with, and then you aren’t tinkering with delicate backfilling. “Hm, so 42% needs to come from backfill, vs the rest from production, so the valve needs to be at…”.
Also it’s much easier to do plutonium at the same time as uranium. I hold off on all nuclear until plutonium is fully unlocked. Now with ficsonium you could wait until that, but tbh plutonium waste I think is 1000x less than uranium, so you can wait on it.
I hold off on all nuclear until plutonium is fully unlocked.
That’s what I’ve attempted to do, everything I read said to not bother. I just always give up before I get there
cool maybe I’ll play but the game is such a time sink
More like an AWESOME Sink!
making jokes is highly inefficient
please return to factory expansion immediately
Hype!
Meh, I wish they fixed all that bugs and qol issues in the game first.
Were you here for early access? Satisfactory is by far the best game I have ever seen when it comes to feedback and bugfixes. I reported so many during that period and they were extremely engaging. Are you reporting them to the forum?
Have you played Terraria, Factorio, or Vintage Story?
No to Terraria and Vintage. Yes to Factorio, liked it but not as much as Satisfactory. Dyson Sphere I’ve played quite a bit, but always get hung up around the 80 hour mark.
I mentioned those three because their devs are quite good about fixing bugs.
DSP is awesome, I played before the Dark Fog expansion, and my laptop really doesn’t like the fog.
Terraria is 2-D Minecraft with actual lore
Vintage is Minecraft for adults, also with lore if you take the time to look for it, while not actively starving and being killed by chickens and pigs.
Which are? I have yet to encounter one myself. Really good game imo
I only know of one that is still occurring, which is the overall behavior of vertical splitters/mergers.
-
Can’t snap a lift to them after they’re already placed.
-
Hard to tell which output is which for smart splitters.
-
They vertically snap 1/2 a unit off of global alignment, so connecting belts need to go up or down slightly to realign with the grid.
But they are fixing bugs each update, so I am still holding out hope they’ll address that one. For all I know, this one might be a complicated fix for worlds that are already using vertical splitters that could break if adjusted, but a new world state could be the perfect opportunity to force everyone into a “reset” of sorts to make that adjustment.
The vertical splitters were only added quite recently (1.1 I think?) so I’m not surprised they were a little buggy. I agree that it’s annoying, though.
I haven’t played since 1.2 came out, are they still not fixed?
Well, “recently” being a year and some change ago.
They fixed a lot of bugs with 1.2, but I don’t believe vertical splitter behavior was among them. My assumption is that it would break existing vertical splitters if they tried.
but a new world state could be the perfect opportunity to force everyone into a “reset” of sorts to make that adjustment.
IIRC they’ve done that in the past! Gotta have several serious bugs before they’re willing to invalidate your old save files
Oh god the old updates when you’d be biting your nails wondering if you had to start over or not
Thankfully I’ve only “lost” one run to a reset and I had barely started. The other one I remember was after I stopped playing so I didn’t mind restarting.
I think my last save is still good but I’ll be restarting anyway the next time I play (and probably with the resource randomizer so I don’t end up in the same places)
Honestly that’s how I play. After each update it’s usually an indicator to just start a new factory. I know not everyone does that so I feel the pain of having to start over, but for me it’s a fun excuse. All those “Oh I should have done this or that” plans just go by the wayside
I’m there as well. I’ve restarted twice, though neither was with any intent to actually go all the way to the end. I finished project assembly in 1.0, and then when 1.1 and 1.2 rolled around, I mainly just wanted to see what I could do with the new things that were added, optimize a bit more from lessons learned, try out the randomizer, etc.
This DLC seems like a great opportunity to take another solid stab at the game for the long haul. Learning the ins and outs of the new environment, buildings, resources, and so on.
