Richard Kenneth Guy  (Sep 30, 1916 – Mar 9, 2020)

The OEIS has lost one of its best friends: Richard Guy died last week at the age of 103. His illustrious mathematical career is described in many places, but I want to mention here that he was an enthusiastic supporter of what is now the OEIS ever since its beginning in the 1960's. He was always on the lookout for new sequences and sent me many letters describing them. Over 250 entries in the OEIS have links to extracts from these letters. He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the OEIS Foundation from its formation in 2009 until the present.

An itinerant mathematician who has been roaming the world in search of permanent employment. Met Neil Sloane in 1966, who said he had an idea for a book (remember books?) of integer sequences. Gave him some encouragement, saying that Leo Moser had also mentioned the possibility as a good idea.
