The associated page is used by the MediaWiki Spam Blacklist extension, and lists regular expressions which cannot be used in URLs in any page in Wikimedia Foundation projects (as well as many external wikis). Any Meta-Wiki administrator or steward can edit this blacklist; either manually or with SBHandler. For more information on what the spam blacklist is for, and the processes used here, please see Spam blacklist/About.

Proposed additions
Please provide evidence of spamming on several wikis. Spam that only affects a single project should go to that project's local blacklist. Exceptions include malicious domains and URL redirector/shortener services. Please follow this format. Reports can also be submitted through SBRequest.js. Please check back after submitting your report, there could be questions regarding your request.
Proposed removals
Please check our list of requests which repeatedly get declined. Typically, we do not remove domains from the spam blacklist in response to site-owners' requests. Instead, we de-blacklist sites when trusted, high-volume editors request the use of blacklisted links because of their value in support of our projects. Please consider whether requesting whitelisting on a specific wiki for a specific use is more appropriate - that is very often the case.
Other discussion
Troubleshooting and problems - If there is an error in the blacklist (i.e. a regex error) which is causing problems, please raise the issue here.
Discussion - Meta-discussion concerning the operation of the blacklist and related pages, and communication among the spam blacklist team.
#wikimedia-external-linksconnect - Real-time IRC chat for co-ordination of activities related to maintenance of the blacklist.
Whitelists
There is no global whitelist, so if you are seeking a whitelisting of a url at a wiki then please address such matters via use of the respective Mediawiki talk:Spam-whitelist page at that wiki, and you should consider the use of the template {{edit protected}} or its local equivalent to get attention to your edit.

Please sign your posts with ~~~~ after your comment. This leaves a signature and timestamp so conversations are easier to follow.

Completed requests are marked as {{added}}/{{removed}} or {{declined}}, and are generally archived quickly. Additions and removals are logged · current log 2026/10.

SpBot archives all sections tagged with {{Section resolved|1=~~~~}} after 1 day and sections whose most recent comment is older than 7 days.

Fontane Pennock content mill

[edit]

These all belong to one person, and the sites say so themselves. psychology.com's about page: "Acquired by Seph Fontane Pennock and rebuilt from the ground up". baricboost.com's names him too and adds that he "previously founded PositivePsychology.com and currently operates Regenerated.com". regenerated.com and fatfire.com are recorded as his in Wikidata items he created himself (Q139819645, Q140313886). positivepsychologyprogram.com is the old positivepsychology.com domain and redirects to it, so there's no point doing one without the other.

He adds them here himself. His first two edits ever, in September 2014, put his domain into en:List of positive psychologists (en:Special:Diff/624515891, en:Special:Diff/624548135), and one of those links is still in the article twelve years later. On 9 May 2026 he added eight baricboost.com links across eight medical articles. Three tripped the link spam filter, all eight were reverted, and he put one back afterwards: en:Special:Diff/1353331008, en:Special:Diff/1353331116, en:Special:Diff/1353331216, en:Special:Diff/1353331402, en:Special:Diff/1353331563, en:Special:Diff/1353331738, en:Special:Diff/1353331915, en:Special:Diff/1353335242.

Then he stopped using his own account. He created a Wikidata item for psychology.com on 26 June 2026, and eleven days later the citations began, each from a new temporary account with exactly one edit to its name: en:Alzheimer's disease on 7 July (en:Special:Diff/1363030973, removed the next day as an unreliable blog post), en:Stanford prison experiment on 31 July (en:Special:Diff/1367031282), en:Cognitive dissonance on 17 August (en:Special:Diff/1369848983). The last two are still live.

The numbers across all public wikis: psychology.com 4 links, regenerated.com 3, fatfire.com 2, baricboost.com 0 since everything was reverted. Cheap to stop while it's small. I'll admit regenerated.com and fatfire.com are preemptive, neither has been spammed yet, but both are sitting exactly where psychology.com sat in June. He owns quenza.com as well and I'm not asking for that one, its few links looks like ordinary citations by ordinary editors.

positivepsychology.com is the other extreme: 262 links across 47 projects, plus 53 to the old domain. Most were added by ordinary editors, so this isn't a sockfarm, it's what a content mill looks like once it has been seeded, and he seeded it in 2014. Nine of the accounts that added it have since been blocked or globally locked, among them Thismomentisgone (undisclosed paid editing), AuthenticSources2546 (CheckUser block for socking), and Parryla and Windacie (both locked). And back on 3 February 2019, three IPs from one range put topic-matched deep links to the old domain into three articles within a few hours, which is what hired link building looks like. @Kqol: The existing usages (about 290 as of writing, false positives included) first need to be removed. Please do so first. If no one disputes that, then we can proceed to blacklist the domains. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 08:31, 18 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
psychology.com, regenerated.com, baricboost.com and fatfire.com are cleaned now, please take a look. What remains is five links on Wikidata, all on items about the sites or their owner. Kqol • talk 19:50, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
As for positivepsychology.com and its old domain, I'll do whichever you think is right: clean them myself, or take the question to RSN first. It's 33 articles on enwiki citing positivepsychology.com and 10 more citing the old domain, plus about 70 across the other projects. Of the 81 accounts that added those citations, 24 have under 50 edits in their whole history, six are IPs or temporary accounts, and six are blocked. Many established editors cited it too, which is why I'd rather ask than start removing. Kqol • talk 19:55, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Kqol: Great work, thanks. I just added those four domains and have already nominated the Wikidata items for deletion. Asking first is indeed the way to go. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 20:13, 20 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Kqol: I see the discussion has been archived. You can proceed to remove the rest now. Please make sure to link to this request in your summaries, just in case. Thanks. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 16:15, 1 September 2026 (UTC)Reply

Archive ph

[edit]

Hi, as of the last couple of days the archive today domain archive.ph is not being blocked. On the Scots wikipedia, archive today links are going straight to the archive.ph captcha page as shown here where the malicious code is transferred. regards Atlantic306 (talk) 11:54, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply

@Atlantic306: Spam blacklisting only prevents the addition of new URLs. Existing ones must be removed manually. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 12:21, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh: Regix was blocking these old links up to a couple of days ago, Atlantic306 (talk) 13:28, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Atlantic306: Could you give an example where an edit should have been prevented but wasn't? NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 14:04, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I see you made this edit today. If you were referring to that, the link was added in 2021. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 14:11, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
They were all being blocked by Regix until a couple of days ago despite being old links such as the first on the list I linked to. I've removed at least ten old links prior to a couple of days ago and they were all blocked by Regix. If it wasn't being blocked by the spam blacklist then who else would have programmed Regix to block it ? Atlantic306 (talk) 15:00, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Atlantic306: Could you clarify what you mean by Regix? Do you mean regex instead? Is the incident in question this one in August where you tried to add archive.today links to sco:Mexican Drog War? NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 15:33, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
I was getting a page that said Regix has blocked it or something similar but I think it said Regix. I wasn't trying to add archive today links on the Mexican drug war but trying to remove them but was blocked because there were other archive today links on the page which stopped the edit being parsed. I don't think you recognise the problem which is the old archive.today links on Scots Wikipedia were being blocked when they were archive.today but now they are not being blocked as archive.ph. I've tested the blacklist by trying to add an archive.ph link on my talk page and that was correctly blocked so it's not a problem with new links. I've raised this with an admin on Scots Wikipedia and he recognises the problem and advised me to raise it here while he is also going to ask for local filters. Atlantic306 (talk) 16:11, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Atlantic306: I have read that discussion and I'm afraid I still don't understand at all what the problem is. Please give me a specific, detailed, step-by-step instruction that I can follow myself to eventually get the result you are getting. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 19:54, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ok I will try to make it clearer. I've been going through the list of old archive today links in the Scots Wikipedia to remove them one by one. Up to two days ago the links were to archive.today and we're all blocked with a page saying they were blocked by Regix or words to that effect.I still began removing them. Then from two days ago the links changed to archive.ph and went straight to the captcha page where the malicious code is transferred. Since I posted here @CiphriusKane: has found that the edit filter is not working when edits are made to articles already containing archive.ph links meaning the archive.ph links are being allowed through with new edits. Atlantic306 (talk) 23:25, 2 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ah I see, Atlantic is actually clicking on the links and this Regix tool that was blocking direct access is now being bypassed with archive.ph CiphriusKane (talk) 18:52, 3 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh: I may have been mistaken as I think it could have been a Welcome to Nginx page (not 100% certain) due to a fault at archive.today or a deliberate block by them. The links are now going straight to archive.ph captcha page where the malware is transferred so can Wikipedia block those links? regards Atlantic306 (talk) 15:20, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
@Atlantic306: The domain archive.ph domain has already been blocked. As I already said above, existing links must be removed manually. NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh 15:24, 6 October 2026 (UTC)Reply
