[edit]Requesting for Wali Wikipedia, Wp/wlx Approval
[edit]We have been requesting for the approval Wali Wikipedia which has been requested here since 11-Nov-2024. We have been active since that time till now, check our activity here. We submitted languages our language experts severally to admins on the language committee. Please let us know what we should do now for the approval process. @Jon Harald Søby, @Amire80 and @others Zakaria Tunsung (talk) 21:03, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
- Wali Language now has a standard autography proposed by the Wali language committee, the language is wealth approving. Vision L1 (talk) 06:44, 7 August 2026 (UTC)
- This is second time out of our last two requests and no response from the languages committee.
- I think we also deserve the right to have the language Wikipedia approved.
- If we don’t get approval or response, it would force us to think there is no use to discuss issues here. Zakaria Tunsung (talk) 00:12, 24 August 2026 (UTC)
- @Zakaria Tunsung: Hello, I apologize for the delayed response. According to my records, I have not yet received a reply from the expert, and the process has not moved forward since then. I still believe your project deserves approval, and the only remaining issue is the expert's verification process. I am wondering if you could recommend additional experts to help verify your project. Unfortunately, I have not been receiving responses, so I would like to ensure they can stay in touch with me. --Sotiale (talk) 10:41, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Sotiale,
- I really sent additional two experts contacts details via email but couldn’t hear from you upon reminding you on our email thread.
- You can please check our email conversation.
- The last reminder which you didn’t respond till now was 30th December, 2025.
- I also sent another experts to @Jon Harald Søby and the expert confirmed to me that he was contacted and did the verification.
- @Jon Harald Søby last reminder I made to him which we are still waiting for his response was 9th July, 2026.
- Or do I need to send it here for any other admin to assist? Zakaria Tunsung (talk) 22:23, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hello @Sotiale,
- I have sent you details of another expert via email. Please can you review it?
- Thank you Zakaria Tunsung (talk) 19:49, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- I haven't received a response from the expert you last recommended to me. Did you send an email to Jhs about someone else after recommending the expert to me? If Jhs is handling this procedure, it would be best to ask him about the current status before proceeding. --Sotiale (talk) 04:15, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yes I recommended another expert to him which the expert emailed him back, confirming our work to be in Waali.
- Please @Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) can you confirm that you still have track on that? Zakaria Tunsung (talk) 22:38, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
- For the record, we have finally received expert confirmation, and have moved to the next step before final approval, which is posting the notice above. Jon Harald Søby (talk) 12:26, 3 October 2026 (UTC)

Request for Publication of the Maayat’aan Wikipedia (Wp/yua)
[edit]Dear Language Committee, I am an active leader of the Maayat’aan Wikipedia (YUA). Since 2015, the Wikipedia has been in the incubator, and in March 2025, we formed a permanent group of editors. Each month, we have met the required criteria (100% interface, 30% glossary; at least 10 people, 10 edits per month for 6 months through August), and in December 2025, we secured an agreement between the Yucatan State Government’s Ministry of Education and Wikimedia Mexico, which has supported us since 2016, enabling significant progress and the steady growth of our community.
Currently, 120 of us meet every two months to work on localizing the interface, and every month a group of approximately 20 users meets to create new articles, format existing ones, or edit older articles. We have participated in the Digital Activism Meetings organized by Rising Voices and in the Meeting of Indigenous Communities in Wikimedia projects in Colombia, where we presented our progress.
It is worth noting that, in Mexico, there are approximately 774,755 speakers of the Maya language (Maayat’aan) aged three and older, according to the INEGI Population and Housing Census. It is the second most widely spoken indigenous language in the entire country.
That is why we hope to graduate from the incubator, ideally in October, as this is an important date for our Maya community—it marks the 62nd anniversary of Indigenous Education in Mexico. As we mentioned earlier, we have a strong editorial team that can ensure the continuity of the entire process after we graduate from the incubator, and we know that once this happens, more people will participate in editing.
This community is made up primarily of teachers, and by August 2026, there will be a total of 585,698 elementary and middle school students who will use the Maya-language Wikipedia in the state of Yucatán alone, which will strengthen our language and reduce the digital divide among the Maya people.
Finally, Wikimedia Mexico has committed to continuing to support us in this process. CodigoMayaOficial (talk) 23:01, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
- @CodigoMayaOficial: Hello, thank you for your valuable contributions and hard work. I view your project positively. While a few additional steps are required for approval process, initiating the verification process early could help save time. Could you help me? Please recommend experts who can verify whether the text was actually written in your language. They should be affiliated with a reputable institution—such as a university—or be a recognized expert in the language. They must be neutral parties who have had no prior involvement in editing your project. Please email me their names, affiliations, email addresses, and any other relevant details. However, please do not mention them publicly on this page. --Sotiale (talk) 10:47, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hello, thanks for getting back to us; I’ve already sent you an email with the requested information. Vicente Canche Moo (talk) 23:42, 22 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, I received the email. If my schedule permits, I intend to begin the relevant procedures within this week. --Sotiale (talk) 04:16, 24 September 2026 (UTC)

Request for Approval for Sasak Wiktionary
[edit]Hi, I would like to request for review and approval for Sasak Wiktionary. It have been progressed since last request, and currently have reached 1261 entries. If this is approved, then this project will be the first Sasak Wikimedia project, which become a huge milestone for the community to introduce the projects (including Wikipedia) to the masses easier. Thank you! OwlyKnight (talk) 17:12, 30 August 2026 (UTC)
- Hi there! I would like to follow up regarding this request. Is there anything that the community can improve to advance this request? I would like to apologize first, but I would like to tag @Jon Harald Søby, @Sotiale, and perhaps @Amire80 that previously helped developing and approving some language projects from Indonesia. Thanks! OwlyKnight (talk) 03:33, 15 September 2026 (UTC)
- Sorry, previously I forgot to include the request page. Here is the request page for Sasak Wiktionary: Requests for new languages/Wiktionary Sasak. Thanks OwlyKnight (talk) 06:30, 17 September 2026 (UTC)
- @OwlyKnight: Hi. Thank you for your efforts. I have one question, is there a specific reason for wanting to launch Wiktionary first instead of Wikipedia? While this isn't prohibited or an obstacle to approval, I’m asking because it is not the usual approach. --Sotiale (talk) 10:51, 19 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Sotiale, thank you very much for your response. Most of our community members are students from language major that interest more on building dictionary than encyclopedia. Besides, writing dictionary in this case may require a bit less effort than encyclopedic contents (from our community member discussion). However, even by that, we are also still developing our Wikipedia (Request here), but we feel more ready to launch Wiktionary first while trying to recruit more community member. Thanks! OwlyKnight (talk) 03:59, 20 September 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you for the explanation. The reason I asked is that approval for Wikipedia might not immediately follow the approval of Wiktionary—or vice versa. This is intended to prevent a pattern where a group gains approval for one project, reduces activity on it, and then seeks approval for a new project simply to accumulate more projects. Given your explanation regarding the desire to have Wiktionary approved first, I do not see any issue with proceeding with Wiktionary's approval first. --Sotiale (talk) 04:32, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
- Returning to the original.. thank you once again for your contributions and efforts; as I explained in the threads regarding other languages, please have your community recommend a neutral expert for your language via email. Under no circumstances should you publicly disclose information about the expert here. --Sotiale (talk) 04:32, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Sotiale: Thank you very much! Yes, we understand that the approval for Wiktionary might not immediately follow the approval of Wikipedia. I will send you the contacts as soon as possible. Thank you very much again. OwlyKnight (talk) 08:31, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hi! Sorry for a late reply. I have send an email to you about the information of the expert at September 28, 2026. Hope you received the email. Thanks! OwlyKnight (talk) 09:56, 1 October 2026 (UTC)

Following up on Hiligaynon Wiki
[edit]Hello, Language Committee. I would like to inquire on the status of the request for Hiligaynon Wikipedia. Thank you! Soy20 (talk) 07:23, 4 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Soy20: Hello, thank you for your contribution. While other factors may require further review, the sustainability of the community itself strikes me very positively. Calls for justice in the private domain wiki project
[edit]I would like to make a request for independent domain wiki projects to ensure the freedom of self determination for individuals who possess a comprehensive understanding of that language and to prevent external interference from individuals who do not understand it. Regarding the problems: 1. 09:19, 14 September 2026 the page "मागधभासा" was created by copying text from the Burmese Wikipedia, translating it into the Pali language and upload it on the Pali Wikipedia. Regarding this matter User:Icodense falsely accused me on the Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Pali Wikipedia page of committing a copyvio violation from s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန် and attempted to delete my "मागधभासा" page, in response to this matter, to determine whether User:Icodense actually has the capability to understand the language, I replied on the Closure of Pali Wikipedia using strictly two languages Mon and Pail without any English translation at all. Afterwards, 17:37, 15 September 2026 User:Icodense replied to me, stating "I consider deliberately making your response inaccessible to most readers by not using English to be disruptive." After reading this, it became completely clear to me that he was interfering without understanding anything at all. In reality, I had no idea that the reference he provided s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန် even existed. I had never accessed or read that page at all. Anyone who can read both Pali and Burmese can tell just by looking at the title, without even reading the book itself, what is written in the s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန် he pointed to. What he failed to realize is that the s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန် is written primarily in the Pali language with meanings explained through Burmese translations. Furthermore, what he does not know is that the Magadha language has a writing system that is extremely similar to both Mon and Burmese and only those who genuinely understand the language can distinguish it. He also does not know that the Magadha language is inseparable for anyone studying Pali language. Why? Because although the Magadha language is relatively rare, during the time of the Buddha, A Buddha himself primarily used it when teaching and guiding deities and animals. in the present day, this language has become the primary language used by mediums, black magic practitioners and white magic practitioners when commanding spirits and entities. This language is also utilized when subduing malevolent mediums and black magic sorcerers. Bringing all of this together, it has become an essential language for every genuine Buddhist. something that does not need extensive explanation for true Buddhists to understand. if do not believe what I say, study the languages used in protective amulets produced in Thailand. Even though the script used is Thai script, it is neither the Thai language nor the Pali language. it is solely the Magadha language. Therefore, I believe this makes it clear how significant the Magadha language is for every Buddhist. 2. I am the primary person responsible for the emergence of the Pa'O and Tai Le wiki projects. Because I am the one who initiated these projects, I bear a great deal of responsibility in looking after and maintaining them. Consequently, due to a decline in active contributors working on the Pa'O Wiktionary and to ensure that work could continue, I used User:Intobesa.bot to send an advertisement message containing a Facebook link to all user talk pages of the Pa'O Wiktionary. Following that User:Icodense falsely accused my Bot of the "repeated insertion of a link containing highly questionable content" and permanently blocked the account. This is a massive interference and obstruction preventing any further work from being carried out. if sending a Facebook link constitutes a violation of wiki rules, why are certain other wiki projects not subjected to the same scrutiny? (See my:တမ်းပလိတ်:Mywiki social) This is completely unjust. In reality, shouldn't he have investigated why that link was included in the first place? This is a clear abuse of administrative privileges on the wiki to arbitrarily interfere with and prevent users from continuing their work. In truth, if such a problem arises, it should be reviewed and decided upon by someone who actually understands the language. Operating instead without any personal comprehension of the language and relying solely on flawed Google Translate outputs is not a good state of affairs. This cannot be called meeting the qualifications of a global administrator with rights across all wiki projects. An administrator with privileges across all wiki projects must possess rich linguistic knowledge or foresight and the ability to discern cause, effect, right and wrong. While people inevitably make mistakes, a qualified global wiki administrator must possess the intellect to discern whether a mistake was intentional or accidental. Here, I have only used two language (Pali and Mon) and he could not even pass this small test before resorting to accusations driven by his own assumptions and reliance on Google Translate. is this supposed to be the qualification of a global wiki administrator? Appointing such a person as a global administrator is no different from handing a lit match to a monkey and turning it loose to burn down an entire village and town. The kind of global wiki administrator I want is someone who possesses linguistic knowledge or intellectual foresight and the capability to distinguish between cause, effect, right and wrong. We have absolutely no need for this kind of individual. If possible, I would like to see him removed from his role as a global administrator and assigned to serve as an administrator solely within wiki projects of languages he actually specializes in, if I were offered the position of a global wiki administrator in my current state, I would decline it, because there are still some wiki projects involving languages I do not understand. Even if I were to attain global administrator status, I would not act the way he does, I would always consult with someone who understands the language and seek their approval first. Instead, acting without any consultation with native speakers and playing around like a child is a clear symptom of someone drunk on power. it reflects the attitude: "I am the admin, you must listen to me, you must follow whatever I say" I have absolutely no use for an administrator like this. Evidence: User:ङघिञ clearly asked User:Icodense "But I have been asking you, how did you understand the Pali Wikipedia article? And how did you somehow find both the pages and were able to establish a connection between them?" yet User:Icodense threatened him so that he could no longer reply and furthermore, directed insults toward me. The insults he directed at me are: 1. "The account 咽頭べさ / Dr.Intobesa now spammed a copyvio of a completely unencylopedic text into the project, see e.g. pi:मागधभासा, which obviously is a direct translation of s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန်." In reality, I didn't even know that the Wikisource page s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန် existed until he sent it to me. In truth, I hadn't looked toward Wikisource for over a year. I have now gone to read the s:my:တိပိဋက ပါဠိမြန်မာအဘိဓာန် page on Wikisource that he provided and not everything written on Wikisource matches what is written on Wikipedia, they are only similar. The parts that match between Wikipedia are merely references. if don't believe me, compare both pages and read them carefully. 2. He falsely accused me by stating "They didn't stop editing at all, they were just putting on a show here and are continuing to edit over there as nothing had happened. Furthermore, the "fluency" is merely self-proclaimed, I have my doubts about it when machine translations are posted without being understood or even being read at all." making such inaccurate accusations without having the capability to read that page himself is a sign of disrespect toward my education and an insult to me. This is not just an insult to me, but also an insult to the teachers who educated me. Not to mention having the ability to read that page, he couldn't even understand the short Mon and Pali messages I sent, failing to reply to them. if his claims were true, why didn't he reply to me in Pali when I asked him in Pali? Why did he respond in English and keep asking for an English translation? Bringing all of these points together, rather than helping in any way, this constitutes a massive interference and obstruction preventing others from doing their work. Regarding this matter, I request all responsible parties on the wiki to step in and resolve this to ensure fairness, thanks.𝓓𝓻.𝓘𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓪|𝒯𝒶𝓁𝓀 16:36, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- These things sounds like serious problems, but this talk page is not the best place for discussing them. Language committee deals with creating and closing domains for new languages. This long description briefly mentions a closing discussion, which is related to what the Language committee does, but most of this text is not about it.
- I'm not sure what is the best page for this, but perhaps it's Requests for comment or Wikimedia Forum.
- Also, as a general suggestion, I strongly recommend dividing your talk page posts into paragraphs and keeping them shorter. Reading one very long paragraph of about 60 sentences is very difficult. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 17:11, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- That's probably not the right place, and I don't want to get into all the insults above, but I do have two quick points since I was pinged here:
- Most of this belongs to Proposals for closing projects/Closure of Pali Wikipedia, where I've criticized an unencyclopedic article that OP created as a reaction to my closure request. I've already said everything that needed to be said about that there.
- The links to your Facebook account weren't just deleted because they where links to Facebook (I don't care about that at all), but because they contained highly questionable material, there are really some pretty unsavory things on that page and they make up the majority of it, I don't even want to get into details here. I consulted a GS colleague about this, and we were firmly of the opinion that this cannot be left as it is under any circumstances, so I revdeleted that stuff and blocked the account. The same link was revdeleted on Commons for similar reasons as well and that may give some insight into why I had deleted it: [1]. Of course feel free for this to be reviewed by others. --Icodense (talk) 17:15, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- @Icodense, It seems to me you can only eat and sleep well after falsely and arbitrarily accusing others. The topic I am talking about is the permanent blocking of the account User:Intobesa.bot on the Pa'O Wiktionary, but what you are answering is about my account being blocked on Wikimedia Commons. How is that? your words are completely inconsistent. Looking at you, I think you are so overjoyed about my account being blocked on Wikimedia Commons that your words are getting mixed up. I am just unlucky to have met a dishonest person like you. As for the accusations made by User:Jmabel on Wikimedia Commons "changed visibility of 7 revisions on page User talk:咽頭べさ: content hidden (Suppressing link to possibly problematic material. Not saying it is necessarily CSAM, but it is close enough that I am appparently not the only one to find it a bit creepy on that count. Apologies to those whose diffs are collateral damage here.)" none of these claims have any truth to them and if you people have any shame, I'd like to ask you to provide proof. In reality, the links I submitted on Wikimedia Commons were only my own Instagram account and Facebook account. I provided them simply to refute and false statements. my message may be long, but it contains complete information, please read it carefully. I used to be a student in the US, so my English hasn't deteriorated, thanks. 𝓓𝓻.𝓘𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓪|𝒯𝒶𝓁𝓀 19:00, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- I reviewed your links and had to revdel them here on Meta-Wiki and I've warned you. Your social media accounts are not only inappropiate, links to these as a welcome message are massively disturbing users seeking a safe place abroad social media. AI-generated images of food depicting female genitalia between images of dancing underage-girls are not a good way to welcome new users. And I may remind you to stay civil please. I'll keep it to another admin to review your personal attacks as I voted for the closure of pali wiki. NDG (talk) 19:07, 23 September 2026 (UTC)
- @NDG, Thank you for letting me know your true intentions for the second time. if as you say, I am attacking others personally, did you not read, not see or are you pretending not to know that others personally insulted and provoked me first? You know best yourself. Let me ask you some questions based on the words you just said. You said to me "AI-generated images of food depicting female genitalia between images of dancing underage-girls are not a good way to welcome new users." Let me ask you: isn't that a personal insult against me? this is a child lover's personal right. (Clarification: I am not someone with independent income, nor am I a very wealthy person. Therefore, in order to continue working on wiki, I need money for internet bills. who is going to pay the monthly internet fees so that I can continue working on wiki? will you pay it? Please reply!? I myself have never asked for monthly internet fees on wiki or anywhere else. That is why I used the AI video creation skills I have acquired to generate income on TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and I have sustained myself to continue working on wiki with the income I earned. I am extremely surprised that you spoke out without considering any of this at all. Even though we work for free and on a non-profit basis on wiki, the internet is not free (do you know!? Or not!), by speaking out like this without considering these things and lacking empathy, you have shown that you do not respect anyone. To put it most simply, I am sustaining myself to continue working on wiki through the income earned from these AI videos. The money I earned has not been stolen from anyone, nor has it been begged from anyone, it has been earned honestly through my own personal abilities. Please point out which section of any law is being violated by working on Wiki with the money earned from these AI videos {Please reply!?}) which country's law has issued a prohibition stating that one must not create videos of minors dancing using AI video and post them on social media? Just with this alone, the answer is already clear as to who personally insulted and attacked whom first. As for myself, it is only because I have the Mon project on Wiki that I am enduring admin unjust insults quite a bit so that I can continue working on the Mon language. if you people did not make baseless and false accusations and insults against me in the first place, I myself would not speak out like this. All of my actions have valid reasons. If you are going to demand evidence regarding my actions, I can explain and show it with this kind of explanation. Let me ask you a question: do you have valid and clear explanations for the accusations and insults you directed at me? Please, even if you do not want to help out of human empathy, you should not obstruct and hinder the other person from being able to continue their work, thanks. 𝓓𝓻.𝓘𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓪|𝒯𝒶𝓁𝓀 02:50, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
- I stand by my remarks that 咽頭べさ is objecting to above. I don't even see how anyone can imagine I was lying when I said I found the content on that Facebook account "a bit creepy"; they can disagree with my assessment, but not with how it struck me. And the reason I was looking there was precisely because on one of the Commons admin boards someone raised the CSAM issue about that content, so there is no question that I was not the only one to find it so. End of discussion, as far as I'm concerned; I wouldn't be here at all if I had not been effectively pinged by the mention of my account. - Jmabel (talk) 21:21, 23 September 2026 (UTC)

It is difficult for our committee to play an active role in language projects that are already established and capable of independent operation. If a decision by global sysops exceeds the scope of their rights or is contested, the matter needs to be discussed in a different place. I recommend against further discussion here, and I ask that no one post any additional comments here after this one. --Sotiale (talk) 04:42, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
Greetings, this is second request for approval Kelantan-Patani Malay Wikipedia which has been active for 21 months. We kindly request your review of this project and hope that the Committee can approve it. Thank you. Mirlim (talk) 11:11, 24 September 2026 (UTC)
Regarding the Pali wiki project
[edit]I would like to apply and request to serve as a Pali language preserver for the Pali wiki project, as a Buddhist, I consider this to be my duty and responsibility, which is why I want to take part in the Pali language preservation sector. There are a few issues within this Pali language preservation sector and it is very critical that the wiki authorities resolve them. Specifically, these issues involve individuals who lack the ability to understand the Pali language yet interfere and disrupt. Furthermore, I would like to state that the Pali language is not an old language in the sense of being dead, but rather a long standing, dedicated Buddhist language that has existed for many years, similar to the Mon language. Furthermore, I would like to state that the Pali language is not an old language in the sense of being dead, but rather a long standing, dedicated Buddhist language that has existed for many years, similar to the Mon language. Because of these reasons, I would like to request that the closure proposal regarding the Pali Wikipedia project be completely withdrawn and finalized. I also ask that consider reopening the Pali Wiktionary, which has been subjected to closure. Currently, there are well over hundreds of thousands of people who can understand the Pali language. The majority of those who understand Pali are Buddhist monks. There are various reasons why they do not come and work on the wiki, as I have mentioned before, although I am working on the wiki freely and without taking any profit, there are still expenses for internet data and electricity. This is not an easy matter either, as earning money or using money for internet and electricity expenses can sometimes conflict with Buddhist monastic rules (Vinaya), in some monasteries, handling money is strictly prohibited and monks can even be expelled from the monastery compound if they use money. Therefore, as I have said before, it is not an easy matter for everyone to come and work on the wiki. I hope you understand and grasp my concise summary as stated here. Therefore, I wish to request the permission to preserve and safeguard the Pali language regarding the Pali wiki project, thanks.--𝓓𝓻.𝓘𝓷𝓽𝓸𝓫𝓮𝓼𝓪|𝒯𝒶𝓁𝓀 07:06, 4 October 2026 (UTC)
