Sinhc Function

Sinhc
SinhcReIm
SinhcContours

The sinhc function is defined by analogy with the sinc function as

 sinhc(z)={(sinhz)/z   for z!=0; 1   for z=0.
(1)

The identity sinhc(z)=sinc(iz) shows that both are even functions and entire functions. Unlike the sinc function, sinhc(x)>0 for every real number x.

The function has derivative

 (dsinhc(z))/(dz)=(coshz)/z-(sinhz)/(z^2)
(2)

for z!=0, with sinhc^'(0)=0, and indefinite integral

 intsinhc(z)dz=Shi(z)+C,
(3)

where Shi(z) is the Shi function.

SinhcFunctionFixedPoints

The function has exactly two real fixed points at 1.31328371835... (OEIS A133916) and 2.63924951389... (OEIS A133917).
