As I’m on the light rail heading into the city, I’m listening to some Softies (ie Microsofties) talking about the fear of AI, how new students are disappearing for Comp Sci and a whole bunch of other thoughts. I usually just take notes while I'm working on something that I will write up into an article, then work from those notes when I put the piece together. My latest I started working on, using AWS to deploy a rather simple API application, has become so complicated at this point I'm tempted to throw it away. The wild thing though, is that it is almost purely based on the utter chaos and madness that is the current state of AWS services. There are so many and the interface has, at this point, become so jumbled and disorganized it is nearly impossible - without reading tons of material about where things are or have gone - to figure out how to get anything built and deployed. It's definitely not the early era of AWS anymore, and it makes sense that they're attempting to push Q (or whatever the name is) so AI just sorts out the mess for ya. The way it is all organized (or not) that's about the only way you'll be able to make any sense of it all. All that said, this is indeed a perfect example of where something that is relatively unusable can be made usable with some good models that know how to effectively use it via skills files or what not. On that note... back to the mines.

Still amazing that AWS is wasting all that time managing that Python CLI when they could just move it to Golang and actually get us real native binaries that run cleaner. It's such a surrealist mess of glued together libs and all. 😑

To note, the transit is sort of oriented to serve the schools, but isn’t frequent enough to do that frequently. In turn we end up with the stupidity of parents driving young ones to school, the absurdity of the yellow busses, and the insanity of high school kids clogging up the road system everyday around 3:30 so that NOBODY is served adequately. Of course rush hour is then the same hilarious stupid shit show. That’s my real issue with auto-focused bullshit, is that it ends up under any stress at all (which is daily) just not serving anybody well. Cyclists and pedestrians at least, if bike lanes, sidewalks, or such exist, aren’t impacted as much but still have to deal with the undeserved lethality of it all.

I realize it’s near impossible for the east side to have a “good” bus network cuz it was designed around the idiocy of auto-focused sprawl. But god damn Bellevue/Redmond has some of the worst connectivity for transit in the entire metro area. Again, I realize the agency is working with a horrid road network of sprawl and bad logistical capabilities but ugh, this is painful. Seattle however is AMAZING compared to this whacko dystopian nonsense. What was the racist pseudo-libertarian pseudo-crony-capitalist-grifter dude’s name? This shit is squarely on that bozos shoulders. Shameful mess.

There’s all this nonsensical trumped up vitriol at cities. Especially from the closeted basement MAGA dwellers that are scared of everything. Meanwhile I’m rolling through Seattle via Link. Strangers laughing and carrying on about the day to day. I got off downtown and went out with my bike via the bike routes. Passing more cyclists and scooter riders than I see cars. Seattle fuckin’ rocks! A few friendly head nods among those of us coursing through the cycling veins of the city and I drop into my destination to pick up a record. 🤘🏻 More chuckling and friendliness along with some sexiness to boot. I hear French and English and Ukrainian and Spanish. It’s beautiful and the people are too. Living their lives, carrying on, putting their time and votes and energy into stopping Trump’s fear, hatred, and vitriol that would have us all be scared and hate each other. But instead, I send from Seattle with love, a giant fuck you Trump and the ICE fascists you keep trying to split us up with and steal children and families from us.
