Andrei Sfat

Principal engineer and independent consultant in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Backend systems, cloud infrastructure and production performance since 2011.

Recent work

  • A platform built from zero. AWS, Terraform and EKS for a real-money sports product in the US, with CI on GitHub Actions. I led the DevOps team that runs it.
  • Latency, traced end to end. Followed slow requests from the phone to the database on a live sports app and lined up the few fixes that matter: query patterns, payload size, caching.
  • A hacked publication, recovered. Brought back every deleted article after a CMS exploit, then patched the servers and put them behind Cloudflare.

  • Voyagen: a travel packing app for iOS with real-time sync. React Native, Hono, Postgres.
  • Meal Plan: a weekly meal planner with recipes and calories, in English and Romanian.
