MyDashboard

A dynamic and personalized browser new tab dashboard extension.

This project replaces the default new tab page with a customizable dashboard that includes weather, an AI news feed (AI HOT), shortcuts, search tools, themes, wallpapers, video backgrounds, and optional Gist backup.

1. Open the repository: https://github.com/rapporbit/MyDashboard
2. Click Code -> Download ZIP
3. Extract the ZIP file
4. Open the extensions page in your browser
5. Enable Developer mode
6. Click Load unpacked
7. Select the project root folder containing manifest.json
8. Open a new tab to start using the dashboard

Extensions page URLs:

• Chrome: chrome://extensions
• Edge: edge://extensions

Firefox local loading is slightly different in this repository because the Firefox manifest is stored as firefox-manifest.json.

For local testing:

1. Download and extract the project
2. Rename firefox-manifest.json to manifest.json in a temporary copy of the folder
3. Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox
4. Click Load Temporary Add-on
5. Select the manifest.json file

Note: temporary Firefox add-ons are removed when the browser restarts unless you package and publish them properly.

Some features are optional and require your own configuration:

• Weather: add your QWeather API Key in Settings
• Gist backup: add your GitHub Token, Gist ID, and backup filename in Settings
• Wallpaper folder: choose a local folder if your browser supports the directory picker
• Video background: choose a local video folder if supported

No API keys or personal tokens are hardcoded in the repository.
