Freeze modules used during startup #145278

Closed

Description

@FFY00

Feature or enhancement

Proposal:

This should be encodings, which was't frozen due to the lack of support for partially frozen packages, and linecache, which is used when running in interactive mode.

    @FFY00, the Raspbian buildbot fails consistently after this merge.
    I can send revert PR to check if this is what breaks things. Do you have a better course of action?

    Since the failure is only on the test that checks the used syscalls, I'd prefer to just adjust that test. I think it should be a fairly safe change, and we can adjust the approach afterwards when we have feedback from the experts on that area. I'll work on a PR for that.

    I think the issue was simply that test.support.strace_helper.filter_memory wasn't prepared for mmap2, which is used in a code path triggered by this change. I have opened GH-148648.

    This is now merge, and the CI is happy, so we can close.
