Manipulate NR simulations' psi4 and strain data to estimate gravitational waveforms. Intended for use with (but not closely coupled to) RIFT.
Not for public distribution
How to build metadata. See Tools directory for an improved, faster method.
You must have a directory or directories where you store the h5 files from NR simulations. The directories
must have a nested structure (as has previously been the standard) such that there is group/subgroup/param.h5.
For example, an RIT catalog simulation would be stored as Sequence-RIT-All/Data/ExtrapStrain_RIT-BBH-0525-n100.h5
and so on. The MAYA catalog has historically had a variety of subgroups, so this structure is maintained. Once
the data is stored, it is assumed you have a copy of nrwf present within the same directory OR on your path.
Additionally, each catalog is required to have an interface3.py file that passes instructions for build/storage
to nrwf. For example:
metadata/
│ README.md
| NRWaveformCatalogManager3.py
│
└───Sequence-RIT-All/
| interface3.py
│ └───Data/
│ │ ExtrapStrain_RIT-BBH-0001-n100.h5
│ │ ExtrapStrain_RIT-BBH-0002-n100.h5
│ │ ...
│
└───Sequence-MAYA-Generic/
| interface3.py
│ └───maya_catalog/
│ │ MAYA0907.h5
| | ...
│ └───gt_catalog/
│ │ GT0001.h5
│ │ ...
interface3.py is no longer required in the new method contained in Tools. To build, we advise that you make a
script to iterate over all the catalogs you wish to build. The script should contain:
#!/bin/bash
util_NRWriteMetadataLookupTables3.py --group $1
util_NRWriteMetadataLookupTables3.py --group $1 --clean
util_NRWriteMetadataLookupTables3.py --write-internal-cache
and can be run as ./run_metadata.sh groupA assuming the script is named run_metadata and you're trying to
build a catalog called groupA.
